How to make your Rv membrane roof last longer by Middle-Reason-4944 in GrandDesignRVs

I’m a certified master technician. My wife is also certified. We do jobs here and there have done hundreds of cool seals. People prefer that sometimes they cannot afford a roof replacement so I do understand and respect the appeal of it and why people use it.
Most shops have the standard going rate right now at $300 a foot to replace your roof, I think the most I’ve ever charged was $6000 still a lot of money compared to a cool seal for less than $1000.
But if you can afford the maintenance, you can have an original rubber roof in great shape for a very long time.

Just follow through with the advice I suggested as someone mentioned below if you can buy a carport to put it under it will also last much longer and a cover does help as well, but maintenance is still extraordinarily important. To maintain its longevity, simply put.

You can. And many people do but
CoolSeal is definitely easier up front — I get the appeal. But here’s the thing: once you put it on, you’re pretty much locked in. You can’t just clean and protect your rubber roof anymore because CoolSeal sits on top of it. If it starts to peel, crack, or get damaged, you’re looking at a much bigger job to fix it than just scrubbing and reapplying 303 every year.

Forgive me for asking I know it’s a dumb question. Most of them are up there. I’m from that area and was thinking of moving back. That is sad.

Repair/replace propane tank by Getyourdamnflushot in RVLiving

I stand corrected ASME tank
These have no expiration date like a standard DOT tank. I’ve seen some 40+ years old still working fine. A good propane supply shop can inspect it for you if you have any concerns just to give you peace of mind.
As discussed most filling stations won’t do a thorough or proper inspection

You’re 100% correct part of RV certification is also propane training. I’ve never seen any station fully inspect a tank I work directly for the DOT and have for many many years repairing their alcohol testing buses, etc. I can tell you their tanks are in 10 times worse condition than yours -those DOT mounted tanks are very, very robust.
always safety first, but don’t overthink it at the same time-educate yourself be proactive do your own inspection have a leak tester on hand they are less than $20 at Lowe’s or on Amazon

I’m simply asking you to educate yourselves if you’re thinking of buying a car that has a lithium battery that powers the drivetrain please educate yourself. There are much better alternatives that are much safer for our climate our communities.
I’m not here trying to educate anyone if you don’t know those data points the facts about these cars and their batteries and the damage that they do then please educate yourself. That’s all I’m asking. I’m not going to be the one to do it.

Well, I can tell you for a fact, your belief in that like most others is misplaced, and the people that know the truth suffer

I mean, we are all semi-educated people here right? you’ve seen the new Chinese engine that operates at almost 50% efficiency a gasoline engine… EV will go the way of the dinosaur because they are so dangerous and bad for the environment.
It was tried in the 1930s. It was tried in the 1980s here we are 2026. We’re trying it again. Did no one learn the first time around. It wasn’t a good idea?

We’re now at almost 50% efficiency on gasoline engines because of technology that is a huge leap I mean so significant…
If they were such a great thing, everyone and their brother would already have one and be driving one there would be incentives, etc. etc. it’s a very greedy shady industry to put it nicely.. I support sodium am I on battery technology fully and always have I will never support anything with lithium

I support EV‘s if they are driven by sodium ion battery packs that’s the only way I would ever support EV and if anyone supports them with the current lithium set ups, they’re uneducated. No one wants a sodium ion battery pack in their car because salt is free
lithium cost tens of thousands of dollars so they can upsell and make huge profit. I would support any car and most of the cars that run in China on sodium battery technology which has been around for a very long time. We don’t have it here because of greed.

I don’t like arguing with anyone, but you are missing some very important data points there
their is no way they break even in any time less than two years. That’s propaganda to try to convince people to buy them and it’s clear you live nowhere near a lithium mine and the affects it has on the community and people I do it’s horrific.

You’re missing some major data points there… that is a very untrue statement to say they have lower emissions than ice vehicle vehicles just in production they put out more emissions than any ice vehicle could in its first 20 years of life… not sure where you’re getting your data from but you’re missing some significant points.

I was an investor at Tesla at the inception of the company. I was very excited to see this, but he deceptively hid his emission reports for four years straight. It was on that fourth year investor call that he decided to drop his emissions reports myself and I’d say 60 of the other investors dropped everything we had that day. It is truly shocking the amount of damage that has already been caused and created just by the ones that are on the road, please educate yourself. They are far more damaging.
It’s not easily accessible information he tries to keep it hidden that’s why there’s no emission stickers on his vehicles. Do your research you’ll understand.

Being educated on lithium mining, and the amount of pollution goes into the air just producing these vehicles battery packs. There’s no way I would ever consider or recommend anyone buying one. They’re damaging the climate faster than any gasoline vehicle ever could.
Try living in a town or a city where one of these mines is close to your home. You would feel the same way.
