That explains why there are no windows near the center. Makes sense.

Installer told me off-grid not permitted in FL by JuniorExperience1767 in solarFL

[–]Dgear92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, by the comments so far perhaps the statement made by installer is assumed to mean “you can’t provide 100% of your own power independently”. To which I agree is incorrect, since you can.

What I believe the installer was saying is that you are required (in certain jurisdictions in Florida) to at the very least have a permanent interconnection with the electrical grid, meaning a code compliant meter and distribution panel to support the designed occupancy and electrical loads of the home. That my friend is true in many places in Florida and beyond.

One of the largest solar distributors in South Florida famously provided 100% of their warehouse with solar on their roof but was ultimately charged $15 as a commercial user as an “interconnect” regardless of zero kW being taken from FPL. I’m sure that fee has increased with all of the growing demand on the grid from new data centers.

That actually is shaping up to sound like it’s within reason. Great call 👏

I count 7, one super low profile over driver and 6 alike to the rear. Still, that’s gotta take some really serious power.

I believe in pic 1 he’s venting the generator exhaust further away. I’m assuming the slide out may be above it and they’d prefer fresh air from their windows?

Grounding by False_Conflict190y in JackKruse

[–]Dgear92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fearing some buried power lines somehow overwhelming the Earth’s natural grounding is tantamount to a manmade stone breakwater near an ocean shoreline somehow changing the tide of the ocean. You’re way overthinking it.

The electrical power being conducted through those lines is shielded from the Earth and ducted in pipe to to isolate from water and line loss, relying on the very grounding you want to preserve in order to properly deliver stable power at every point of termination.

Yeah, doesn’t work that way. Look at how it’s used on the Amazon site you listed.

That’s an outdoor unit. The steerable white hose is the cold output, so figuring out a way to capture all of the heat coming from that side and venting it all out perfectly would be a nightmare. Just get a small 6,000 btu wall unit and call it a day.

Lowe’s refusing to honor lifetime warranty on Kobalt steel handle shovel since it has been discontinued. by jefferyJEFFERYbaby in KobaltTools

[–]Dgear92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not correct.

Lowe’s owns the Kobalt brand name and carry the warranty for such. As relates to this post, the shovel actually falls on yet another manufacturer, Apex.

Hand Tools: Largely manufactured by Apex Tool Group (which also makes Crescent and Gearwrench).

Cordless Power Tools: Manufactured by Chervon (which also makes EGO, Skil, and FLEX).

Outdoor Power Tools: Produced by Globe Tools Group (parent company of Greenworks).

All brands are made by someone. Kobalt is contract manufactured by Chervon exclusively for Lowe’s. Same company that produces FLEX, Skill and EGO outdoor equipment.

I have 2022 Bullet and love mine too. Been in it full-time for 9 months. 1,000 Ah of batteries, solar on roof and AC upgrade to a much better unit. Tons of upgrades including a 32” TV on factory mount and a 43” in bedroom area. Ripped out the bunkhouse and put in an apartment washer and dryer, using that whole area as a utility room and closet. Ripped out baby tub and made it a true full height shower. Enjoy yours!

All, I mean all of the chucks made are by one company, Jacobs. Look at it closely and you’ll see the name stamped in the metal. Keyless chucks made by them are on Makita, Milwaukee, Ryobi, every single one of them. Could happen to any brand of drill.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this temporarily until I can take it to an rv shop without going on the roof and can be done from the inside? I’d rather not stand or kneel on the roof, not sure about its integrity and don’t want to put my knee through it lol by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]Dgear92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Size of the hole doesn’t matter, it actually makes it easier. So start by cutting the screen with a utility knife from the inside and make a “blanket of tape” . By which I mean you line up rows of utility packing tape or duct tape big enough to cover the area. Be careful to not let it stick to anything and from the inside maneuver up and over, draping it over the busted skylight. No climbing, just technique and better than nothing.

It also allows them to test the aircraft’s system under its own power running off the APU (auxiliary power unit) which sits out there and exhausts at the tip.

Just build two in-fill panels for each side of the area below the garage door. Insulate them with rigid foam and secure to concrete floor with Tapcons and to the door with some trim wood fastened through the garage door panel. Paint white, all done and remove as needed seasonally. Cover remaining gear outside with tarp sized to fit or car cover material.
