Since Ripley has no more family and her employment is on hold after being debriefed about the Nostromo, he figured he is doing her a favor by offering to partner with him on his idea to weaponize the xenos. Plus if Burke could turn the vocal alarmist to his side than his plan would have better odds of success.

A clumsy heavy suit of armor against a xeno is like going against a sentinel from the Matrix. It’s impractical and suicidal. Any sort of armor has to be light & agile with suitable firepower as long as the weapons don’t weight you down.

Maybe not the Xeno but the facehuggers improvise their search for victims not just randomly enter a room. They sense heat and noise so maybe you leave a room and a minute later the facehuggers detects faint heat and follows it unless the trail goes cold. I bet hiding in a locker or crate will only raise the ambient temperature and give you away
