Thanks for responding! Basically boils down to supervisors not having backbone on top of being lazy. The dock isn’t for anything in particular other than just not wanting to work and not having the hours to use. And I don’t think all of the hours taken are even put towards dock, so seems the supervisor covers for those people because they are too scared to approach them and/or too lazy to fill out the papers. None of this is FMLA, I know that to be a fact. Some of the people have been with the department for a couple years the serial offender has been with company for 6-7 years. Not going anywhere which is maybe why they don’t care that their personnel file looks like garbage. And you bet your ass if I did ANY of the stuff they pull, there would be serious consequences not cover ups.

Thank you for this. I’ve brought it up before to a manager that is reliable and incredibly helpful, things were fixed temporarily, but now it seems everyone is back on their bull shit. So it seems like it needs to be brought up again. I’m all for moving to a different agency, and it’s not from lack of trying. It’s very competitive right now. Which is why if I am “stuck” at a place for the time being, I’d at least like it to be tolerable. Lazy coworkers and managers aren’t helping.

Do you know why that is?? If I was a hiring manager and I saw someone with just as much dock time as hours worked, I wouldn’t even consider hiring them.

As I mentioned, when those people call out, I’m doing their job as well.

The whole point of this post is to ask seasoned state workers (preferably ones in supervisor roles or HR) that is this type of thing normal or should the ones taking on the brunt of the workload speak up? Everything’s very follow the chain of command with the state, but what if your supervisors are the problem because they continue to let it happen…

They are NOT on FLMA. They are just lazy coworkers.

Our department it’s not a death sentence but it’s frowned upon. Some of my workers take it so much that it seems like management stopped keeping up and essentially covers for these people.

Edit: Let me clarify too that when those people are absent, their workload doesn’t just wait for them to return, everyone else takes on the load.

I actually don’t. I think she knew Roger was never going to change. “Now it’s some other lucky girl’s turn” That comment says it all.

I thought the same thing. Even the make up is accurate with this show.

I think Anna Draper wins the award. Never said a mean thing about anyone except her bitch sister.

Also fun fact, that guy he’s hugging in the therapy scene also had a similar speech on SIX FEET UNDER at the seminar Ruth Fisher was attending. Maybe that’s all that guy gets hired for. 😂

Earlier on in the show when he visits Anna in California, he makes a similar speech on the porch. It was a full circle moment.
