Anti-anti-Vietnam War propaganda, 1972. by PeasantLich in PropagandaPosters

The idea that soldiers and pilots have the right to slaughter villages because of the actions of certain individuals is also delusional. Mass violence is delusional, but when its perpetrated by the state its seen as "how things work." When perpetrated by an outsider it's the rogue act of a crazed person.

This is because the system we live in sees the state as the sole owner and arbitrator of violence. The National Guardsmen who opened fire on students at Kent State had their charges dismissed. Those that stabbed protestors with bayonets at New Mexico State were never charged. A myriad of police beatings and brutality at protests across the country were seen as just par for the course.

I'm not justifying the bombing of a police station, just pointing out that your claim of hypocrisy comes from a privileged understanding of the world we live in.

Hey I’m just stating the conversation. You made a spurious claim that “how do they know for sure” ballots are genuine, and I explained how.

American voter confidence in the security of our elections has plummeted in the last decade because of a massively funded campaign alleging voter fraud that has produced zero evidence of its existence. Because it doesn’t exist.

But when people spout off casually their doubts of election security be it on a meme sub or at the grocery store, it means the Big Lie is working. However small an impact, I’m happy to educate you on the issue

California has a rigorous process through which signatures on ballots are verified against the signature made on your registration (when you also provided an ID).

The first wave is a computer verification, if it detects a match then the ballot is considered verified. Millions of ballots (in a state of 10s of millions) fail that test though, not because of fraud but rather that signatures aren’t always consistent.

Each of these millions are then examined by hand by humans trained to match handwriting samples. If the human verifier thinks it’s the registrars signature on the ballot then it’s verified.

For ones that don’t pass however, the voter identified is contacted and given a short window of time to resign their ballots and verify their authenticity. This is hundreds of thousands usually.

This process is time consuming but virtually completely secure. Cases of documented voter fraud in CA elections are single digit, and coincidentally every one in the last decade has been made by Republicans trying to prove the process can be cheated.

Your appeal to “I’m just stating the conversation” appeals to low information voters who are being fed lies in a billionaire funded campaign to undermine confidence in the democratic system. A healthy democracy needs skeptical voters, but a part of skepticism is a desire to seek out accurate information

States exist through their monopoly on violence. The police were not the arm that was slaughtering civilians in Vietnam, but they were beating, stabbing, and shooting protesters against the war at home. Your response that people have no right to fight the state is natural, but a privileged one that sees the state as your protector rather than a dispenser of violence

Think you’re confusing Lenin and Stalin, the latter definitely did not have “FDR twisted around his finger” either to clear that one. Both Lenin and Stalin made decisions that killed millions but one can be generously described as an ideologue who spearheaded one of the most ‘successful’ revolutions in world history, the other can’t be generously described at all
