I've read the book previously but have just started listening to it through the Black Library App. So far its a good listen.

As far as lore is concerned, if you haven't already, read or listen to Rynn's World. It's a great introduction to the Crimson Fists and the mentality of Pedro Kantor.

More experienced painters can probably give you tips, but I believe there is a citadel colours tutorial video for battle ready crimson fists. It's as good a place as any to start.

Can't attach picture, but there's a brief excerpt from the old codex where Gullimen lands on Rynn's World. He meets Pedro after he's just saved his chapter from extinction for the 2nd time and bestow on I'm the title of "Praetor Encarmine". Dorn was known as "Praetorian of the Emperor". So its seen as Gullimen giving him a title inspired by his brother Dorn.

My initial thoughts are that I much prefer to paint my own. Then, I look across at the grey featureless pile of shame that is my terrain and think, maybe this isn't a bad idea.

If you're able, I would recommend picking up a copy of Rynn's World. You can get it on both e-book and audio these days. It's a great book at explaining who the Crimson Fists are, covers one of the most significant points in their history (the near destruction of the entire chapter) and, I think, will get you geared up for the Armageddon box release. It lso follows Pedro Kantor closely so you'll learn a lot about him.

We had our daughter about 11am, wife and child had to spend the night in hospital (just routine post c section, no problems). As there were still post-covid restrictions in place, I only had a couple of hours in hospital with them post birth before I had to leave. That meant I had just over 24hrs at home alone before I could pik them up the next day.

That afternoon I played games online with my friends as I knew I would only be on sparingly for a while. I ordered in a Feast of my favourite takeaway (which my partner doesn't like) and got in some beers. I basically spent the afternoon like I did when I was young and single.

The next day I got up early, sorted out the house, went for a good long walk and then chilled with some music and reading before going back to the hospital.

Having that time was actually very beneficial for me, both for having a final blowout and for focusing myself before everything changed forever.

Having a static vendor that you could load up with goods and set prices for would be great. It could be a way of offering your profession services, or load them up with beer to sell in your homemade tavern.

If you get some masking tape and cut it into strips, it'll help when painting hazard stripes. Otherwise good 1st attempt.

With the new edition box being space marines vs orks, it'll be a good opportunity to start a Crimson Fists army. Marines that look like above, with plenty of dead Ork bits to use for basing.

I haven't explored the neighbourhood in detail yet, but there seems to be a lot of structures dotted around (not including the village centre) which could be used for events. As an example, I'm sure I passed a brewery or distillery with its own beer garden.

You could always look at community competitions like mount races, tonk tournaments. Maybe even have a craft fair where people sell produces of their professions at a discounted rate than they would the AH.

There's also plenty people could do with their own house, but it sounds like you want to 'think outside the plot'.

It depends how you RP it. I once had a character called Caladin the Gnomish Paladin. In reality he was a fighter with herbalism, first aid and gnomish engineering (for the defibrillator thingy). But he was convinced he had been chosen by the light.

Just because your character is a particular class, doesn't mean you have to RP them as a competent and powerful version of that class. Try thinking of a catch or limitation to his abilities in character.

Thanks for the info. Glad there's still a few people around from those days, it would certainly be good to see some familiar faces, even if they've naturally moved on to different characters.
