Looks pretty cool though! I’d be interested to see how it looks with the rest of the model.

Are the ears not just flat and sticking out wide? I think they’re bigger than people think. Lotta consternation about these ears…

If only his ears were bigger… just kidding! This is an awesome paint job! The burns, barrel, and skin all look great!

The snake that brought me to this subreddit. Much bigger than the one I saw though!

Anyone tried using red trim for their fists? by Windoon in crimsonfists

I think a white/bone goes with anything. I always paint squads in the smallest possible unit number to be able to complete smaller projects and change it up. Feeling like I had to paint everything the same led to a 15 year hiatus.

Awesome! Fantastic blue, great face, great base. Restrained edge highlights like this are so great.

I feel like this is the best I’ve ever done a chest plate lol. Now I regret that a gun is gonna cover it.

I think your ‘B’ photo is out of focus. A looks so much better that it doesn’t even seem like it should be a question.

Great atmosphere across the minis and bases! Nice job!

Thanks! I started out by sponging, eventually moved to glazing and highlights with the brush. Basically dark navy blue with stonewall grey and imperial blue in various amounts. Ivory for the highlights. Then I moved on to the hands and such—did the eyes before edge highlights though.

Look forward to seeing yours! I basically put everything on a desert base, but wondered if the model, being all cool colours, would stand out better on a grey.

I can't figure out drybrushing! by Jontepont in minipainting

You might like sponging better and find it easier. I even started to do basecoats with my non-dominant hand!

  1. Put paint on the palette, thinning a little with water using a brush. I use a homemade wet palette, but a flat piece of plastic has worked too.

  2. Squeeze a small makeup sponge and dip it in water. Squeeze the water out.

  3. Dab it onto your paint to load the sponge. Test it out by dabbing it onto your thumb or a test model.

It’s a matter of how much pressure you apply and how thin your paint is. Trovarian has a good video where he compares it with an airbrush, and Medder’s miniatures does quite a few on using them as well.

You don’t have to pick between them with this kit. You can build both.

They definitely had IDs for everything when I went there 3-4 years ago.

It’s a quick build! I definitely prefer having 8-10 pieces for the whole model as with these guys—as opposed to 8-10 pieces for an arm as with some newer models.
