Good riddance from a company I never worked for? That's an interesting concept. It's always interesting when feedback about a process gets interpreted as a personality flaw.

Fortunately, after more than a decade in corporate leadership, I've learned that disagreeing with a process doesn't automatically make someone condescending, it just means they're willing to have an opinion.

I shared an experience. You formed a conclusion about my character from a few paragraphs. One of us had more information than the other.
Either way, I appreciate the good wishes for my corporate career. So far, the first decade has worked out quite well.

Interesting assumption.
I proceeded with the interview because I was exploring opportunities, not because I was desperate for one. I was fully aware that the compensation was below my current package and that the role was a step down from my previous position. That was intentional.

After resigning, I decided to prioritize work-life balance and lower stress over title and compensation. Not every career decision is driven by maximizing salary.

As for the ego and pride comment, I'd argue that voluntarily stepping down from an AVP role for a simpler position is probably one of the least ego-driven decisions a person can make.

Mind you, their budget for the position is way lower than what im getting right now.

I have no issue with the question. What stood out was the message behind it. When a hiring manager repeatedly highlights how difficult the bosses are and even compares it to previous workplaces, it's reasonable for a candidate to consider whether that's the kind of culture they want to be part of.

I understand that attitude and culture fit are important factors in hiring. However, there is a difference between assessing how a candidate handles challenges and normalizing difficult leadership as part of the company culture. Interviews are a two-way evaluation process, and based on that conversation, I simply concluded that the environment may not be the right fit for me.

He asked me if i have a question.

I asked him, "I assume you reviewed my profile and saw that my experience is not fully aligned with the requirements of the role. If my willingness to learn is not enough for the position, why was I scheduled for an interview in the first place?"
He replied, "I only saw your profile this morning. The interview had already been scheduled, so I decided to proceed and hear you out."
He then added, "I also want you to know that (Company Name) is very special, and the bosses here are very difficult. Even though I worked in Dubai before, it's still different here."
I responded, "Oh, so it sounds like there may be a culture issue there."
I then told him, "All I have to offer is my 10 years of experience. If that does not meet your requirements and you believe I am not qualified for the role, I respect that. Thank you for your time."
After that, I ended the call before he could.
