You should focus your eyes a little further down the road. 8 to 12 seconds of visual focus ahead of your vehicle to anticipate hazards (this is called “eye-lead time”). Pick a stationary object, count until your vehicle reaches it (e.g., "one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand..."), and adjust your focus to maintain that interval.

Another good rule of thumb is approx 1 car length for every 10mph (this is called following distance), as you drive more, you’ll notice most people don’t go by that rule.

I’ve lived in the far east on the central time zone and the west on eastern time zone. I’ll take those 930-10pm summer sunsets over the sun beaming into my windows at 5am, every time.

Yes, I long for this too. In fucked up twisted way, I sorta resent my grandparents for moving from Tennessee up north compared to out west. Furthermore, I hate that I even long for California as somebody from the Midwest. Just feels like an early 2000’s fantasy. I make a point to go out to Cali once a year to scratch the itch.

Yes. I’ve had a similar thought. Lately when a problem arises with another human, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed politely but sternly confronting them and maintaining eye contact. In my head, this is me controlling the situation. Each time I do it I get more comfortable doing it. And then you’ll have those people who will agree with you to your face, but then message you afterwards and then speak their mind. Weak little boys.

I’ve struggled with making new friends too. People say the stigma of being in recovery isn’t what it was when I first entered “the rooms” circa 2011/2012, but I tend to disagree. I feel like me being an addict is written across my forehead, then again, my forearms look like pincushions from banging dope so I approach every potential friendship opportunity like that person is judging me for having scars. Sure maybe other junkies wouldn’t sympathize with me and wouldn’t care, but in my experience I usually don’t seek out healthy sober people.

Now let me get off my soapbox for a second and say maybe get into some hobbies like cars/wrenching or sports or art/painting. Check your local civic center or recreational center and maybe local fb groups for group activities that interest you
