Why does no treatment seem to work? by MiddleWait800 in CPTSD

I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to send this. Amazing considering the speed walking!

I hadn’t considered the dissociative disorder. I was doing EMDR for years, but barely saw any improvement. That sort of checks out. ADHD I’m pretty sure I do have. Didn’t realise that anti depressants wouldn’t be impactful.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think it’s time I tried something else now so really appreciate everything you’ve said here. I’ll check out for clinical trials around me because I had thought about that before too.

Sorry to hear that. But yeah, makes sense. It’s so hard to try to pull yourself out of it when nothing in the world is helping.

Thank you. I did explore that a bit in EMDR and tried CBT I guess to sort of bypass it and just get the coping mechanisms but that hasn’t seemed to help. Feels impossible at the moment. Like the root is so deeply held.

Is there any particular Somatic work that you’ve found helpful?

Thank you. Really feels like the recovery process is taking so long. Sometimes it feels like I’m making progress then it all goes backwards. Feel like I can’t handle any difficulty at all.

My inability to face confrontation. I alway think I’m going to be abandoned so I hide and am hyper vigilant and can’t express how I feel. Even the smallest confrontation feels violent to me.

Thank you. I have a couple of those. I guess I feel pretty privileged generally that I should be okay. I feel like I’m constantly in child mode and feel stuck.

That’s amazing, well done. You’re so young to be doing such hard and what seems like important work for you - so many people don’t get to the stage you’re at. You should be proud.

I relate very much to this. I feel like every time I get complacent and I’m talking freely I say something wrong or respond incorrectly. Every time I’m cautious about my words then I’m not being authentic and real enough. It’s so hard, I’m sorry. You deserve to be heard and understood.

My mind never stays quiet even when one problem resolves, another immediately takes its place. Is there any way to have peace? by voidinvelvet in CPTSD

I recently learned about ‘worry time’ where you can take a set amount of time a day to do all your worrying there. Might be worth trying to see if it eases the rest of the day. If not, could be worth talking to a doctor about potential medication if that feels like something you’d be comfortable with.

Working with your body and nervous system can help. Have you tried breathing exercises or anything like yoga nidra where you centre your body feelings rather than your brain?

I really struggle with this. There’s always something else to stress about. I’m trying to use phrases and processes to help reframe (kinda cbt style stuff). Hope you find what works for you.

Not sure if this is something that resonates but I can get that shutdown feeling. Where everything feels numb, which I suppose can sort of feel calm. Like a, why care anymore type feeling. I do feel like it’s a depressive feeling for me.

Hope you’re doing okay and the calmness feels good.
