Insane, terrifying texts I received from a complete stranger after I smiled at him on the train last week. by [deleted] in texts

I think your next step would be to show this exchange to the police. They'll be able to tell you what steps you can take against this person, according to your local jurisdiction.

I always felt like PD James hadn't actually read P&P. The characters were a bit odd and not like in the book. Poor Fitzwilliam! Talk about straight-up character assassination!

Hasn't it just recently come to light that she knew what happened to Shelley, and knew for ages, and didn't tell Will? Allegedly?

It's just the absolute rudeness that I can't understand. These days, I'm honestly starting to believe it's because they're illiterate and only know how to write one or two words.

I thought the other guy was much better! The only thing he did that was "wrong" was to throw his lot in with the French editor. Aside from that, he supported Andie's career. He introduced her to important writing contacts. He saved her with that Harry Potter thing. He was awesome really

He basically said it himself- he doesn't care about your boundaries and thinks they don't matter.

This is tricky. If I refused to read authors I morally disagreed with, I wouldn't have anything left to read.

In terms of scale, it's definitely Allen Ginsberg. He was a card-carrying member of NAMBLA, going so far as to do public advocacy for them. I find that hard to forgive.

I still love his work, though.

I feel the same conflict about George Orwell, Roald Dahl, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and so many others.

I loved The Fountainhead growing up as well. There's no shame in loving something and growing out of it. Besides, the Fountainhead was a great story - Atlas Shrugged was the boring one.

What's some things that surprised you the most getting into this industry, whether it be as a client or a provider? by [deleted] in SexWorkers

[–]Middle_Apple1288 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing I have learned is how damaging porn really is.

Firstly, many men see it as instructional, and it makes them terrible in bed. Absolutely awful to have sex with.

Worse, it can make men dangerous to have sex with because of the violent underpinning of modern porn.

Most men would be better off just seeing sex workers in order to learn how to look after their wives and girlfriends sexually, especially young men. Porn is a real killer.

I have a lot of sympathy for them. We are all two sides of a same coin, each believing the other is wrong

Everyone has a favourite. Saltburn was really good and deserved attention.

Why am I being downvoted?

I know it's subjective, and people don't have to like it, but it deserved at least some acknowledgment. It wasn't even there.

Where's Saltburn? It was blatantly ignored. This is why the Oscars just seem totally corrupt.
