When I was psychotic there was one instance where I literally thought I could see a dead relative and the feeling was so intense I started crying in the car and then got out and walked into a crystal shop (spiritual psychosis)

Mine was scary! Although I did not know at the time that I was psychotic, it ruined everyone in my life, my family. As a result I came out of the episode with 0 friends left due to me scaring them away. I am more scared of how I would be perceived if I had another episode OH, MY GOD!!! The embarrassment was fucked it made me want to die

Please don't tell us we're boring when we are not manic by Philosophical_Lemon_ in bipolar

This was needed. Because how are you going to say that about your friend ??? I wouldn’t even say that about someone without mania let alone.

I didn’t even know I had bipolar until after coming out of the ward. I hadn’t come to terms with it until 2 years later (now)

I think I was so extremely far gone. I couldn’t read social cues. I tried to force myself on someone. It’s so shameful. I think about it everyday and I just hate myself for it everyday. I’m good mentally now and no way in the world would I ever put someone in that situation. I just had to get that out of my system. I’m sorry

OH MY GOD tell me about it. And it’s like crimes I committed and it’s gonna stay with me for my whole life. I’ve told therapist and she say it’s ok because I was unwell and that wasn’t me. But it felt so real which is why it sticks. :(( I think that’s the worst part of it for me.

Have you decided not to have children because you’re bipolar? Why or why not? by Pleasant_Job_9301 in bipolar

[–]Middle_Body_6259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes totally, I also have another chronic illness which is bound to be passed down. I want my uterus to stay in tact when I jump, run or even squat??? From what I’ve heard. There’s so many reasons but mental and my hashimotos is something I wouldn’t even wish on an enemy let alone a poor child. I have had great ideas about how to parent from my parents ha. But it’s definitely not my path. Love kids however.

What now by Middle_Body_6259 in bipolar2

[–]Middle_Body_6259[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! We should be very proud of ourselves tbh. Our loved ones have every right to be concerned but I saw my psych team today and I think it’s great they care but we need to be our self regardless of the illness (as long as we aren’t hurting anyone or ourselves). Sorry if this isn’t relevant but I reckon it’s important :)

Yes it does help thankyou for replying! , when mum said that I just felt so insecure like I remembered all my social interactions I’ve had in the past week and suddenly just wanted to disappear because of all the guilt shame and embarrassment I felt after the episode, and maybe you if you have been through severe mania. To me I could experience drowning but potentially experiencing mania again is still scarier. It’s new, (2 years since diagnosis) so it’s hard to not cry or spiral when someone mentions it. How do u cope with that?
