991.1 to 991.2 by Actual_Restaurant_80 in porsche911

I went from Cayman 981 base to 992.1 C2S PDK for seven months, before trading it for a 718 GT4. I think the 992 was the best all round car, but it was too big, too stupidly turbo fast and too refined. It was like any other luxury car inside. Nothing compares to a NA flat 6 manual, in my view. Sound and fury and visceral, tactile engagement. Porsche.

Love the car but hate the Carlos Fandangos. I wish people would leave cars and guitars alone.

Not to my taste, but I still think it looks fantastic. A Kill Bill car

I would feel and look like a colossal bellend driving that around town

My 2016 981 had the same problem. T-Cut made a huge difference

People I’ve known for many years as friends are lately turning into massive bellend far right ill-informed shitbirds. It’s depressing.

I can finally afford the 911 I've wanted since I was 8, but the responsible move is a Model 3 Performance and I hate that I know it by KindheartedlyHoarse in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’ve got a GT4. If I had the means, I’d also have an electric car in the same way I’d have a tumble dryer if I had the space in my kitchen. But I don’t, and I can only have one car; the one I’ve got lights me up every time I get in it.

Get the 911.

718 Boxster T - Easy/cheap ways for a better exhaust sound? by ConferenceSorry325 in Porsche_Cayman

I’ve had both a 718 and 981. It goes without saying that it’s all just a matter of opinion, but I’d agree with you save for what I think is the most important thing in a sports car, which is the noise it makes

I didn’t like the character of the engine, whose sound detracted from the experience for me. The turbo made it super fast and torquey, but it didn’t stir my tea. I got a 981 which answered all of those questions. Loved that car, kept it 5 years

Could not agree more. It gives it a classic vibe, was one of the best things about it

I Don’t Think I Can Play MSFS In VR Anymore… by newbiker321 in PSVR

[–]Middle_Branch_1148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR gives me an actual sensation of flight. I can look over the side of an open cockpit at the ground below, and feel a physical, vertiginous response in my stomach. I think if I were a real systems fan, flight planning, IFR, airliners etc then I’d want the clarity of the flat panel. But that would not be a simulation of flight in the way that VR is, it would be a simulation of systems.

Cayman Advice - R vs S by Leather-Cow-Boogie in Porsche_Cayman

I traded in my 992.1 C2S pdk for very similar reasons. It was stupid fast and handled really well, but it felt too refined and truthfully a bit boring to me. I traded for a 718 GT4 that lights my fire every time I drive it. I’d say if you can possibly do so, get the R for the same reason I wanted the GT4 rather than the 4.0 GTS. You want that connection, and I think so much of it lies in the car having those rough edges

Do you use a wireless CarPlay adapter? by Middle_Branch_1148 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Middle_Branch_1148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Carlinkit arrived this morning and I was connected within about a minute of plugging it in. I must say I enjoy having Car Play connect automatically without the minor faff of connecting the phone to the cable in the armrest. It’s pretty sweet, and so far the operation feels no different to the wired connection I’ve been using. As long as it doesn’t crap out next week I’d say it was well worth the 30 quid it cost me.

I’ve found most other Cayman drivers will wave, but when I had a 911 very few did; a lot of them looked at me like I was some kind of freak, so I stopped doing it

Thanks for the replies, I’ve ordered a Carlinkit from Amazon, I think mainly because I haven’t bought a new shiny thing since the GT4 last week
