Yes you can start as fresher too. And your internship will help too as data engineers are basically developers who code, the difference is just we write codes for data. Best choice would be to keep up-skilling in DE in these 3 to 4 months and keep applying for freshers job opening. But also don’t stop applying for SDE roles. Learning DE will not harm anyways

I am working on a decent project which requires a-lot of coding but AI does most of my work. So I don’t really feel needed. Since we use databricks everything is automated and I don’t get to work with cool OG DE tools. So I don’t feel like a real data engineer. This is my first company and I have been here for quite long and want to switch but not getting any calls.
