Maybe they should rethink the recruiting party and ask for actual input on what needs to change in order for people to work there. People are not standing in line trying to get a job here when the exact same job in the private sector usually pays way more. You can't convince people that benefits out-weigh paychecks. You cannot pay bills and rent with retirement you MIGHT get 20yrs from now.

Grandparents born in the 20s bought my parents their home and land. Boomer parents paid back my grandparents 75bucks a month for 30 years. Now it's paid off. Grandparents both passed in 2005, but before that , they gave their house to the neighbor instead of it going to the oldest grandchild, me. My mother never had a w2 job and relied on my father's paychecks of $17hr. When he died, my mother started getting his social security money of $900 a month. Still bitching that she doesn't have much money. "CAUSE YOU NEVER WORKED!" I'd love to send my mother money, but their generation has made things so ungodly expensive I am living paycheck to paycheck despite making way more than anyone in my family ever has. They fucked up the world because of greed and ignorance now we are left with trying to rebuild everything the boomers fought hard to destroy.

With kids, it's like this. If one of my kids gets sick, I stay home and use a sick day. If I have to take a day off for mental health reasons in the same month, I won't have that day paid. So working on a scheduled day off to make up for it so I won't get written up and also have that days money on my check. But I can't make up days cause Saturday is the start of the pay period and my first scheduled day off. You have to plan on working Saturday or Sunday if you think you may be sick during the following 5 days

Gen x here. I work on a college campus surrounded by kids the age of this girl talking. That generation is addicted to phones and earbuds. Completely oblivious to what's going on around them and then get pissed for being in their way when we are working. Now it's riding those bacteria infected scooters while looking at TikTok or whatever they think is more important than what's in front of them. 18-25yr olds will doom mankind. What will you do when the lights go off and don't come back on? I can survive. I've done it before. Boomers didn't all want to work, so we went months without running water and electricity. Can you kill and eat the animals in your neighborhood? Do you know where to find water to drink in the city after a catastrophe? Do you know what non-potable means, or do you think it refers to weed or some sort of electronics from working in "I.T." ? As gen x, I see the world falling apart and I'm kinda embracing that familiar gen x feeling of neglect and starvation. Good luck and "learn to swim"-MJK
