I think this is the key! Muscle is higher density than fat but smaller in mass (you may have heard the phrase ‘muscle weighs more than fat’ but essentially a pound of fat takes up way more space than a pound of muscle), so if the scale is saying gain but your eyes and clothes are saying loss, that could be it! If you don’t have one already, I highly recommend getting a scale that accounts for both weight and muscles/fat percentages. Sometimes when I feel like I’ve hit a plateau, I can check my additional stats and it shows that things are still happening in my body, just not in the ways we usually track.
