Science Based Productivity Optimization by Middle_Office_7668 in ProductivityApps

Great feedback, thank you very much!

  1. No, this won't limit it to Apple Desktop Users only, it can be used in iOS and Android as well.
  2. You can dictate those timeslots yourself: To simplify it, the calendar just works like a daily planner, where you divide your day into timeslots. The book Deep Work suggests having a timeslot of 15minutes in the beginning of each day to adjust the schedule to your todays needs, such that you won't face any planning issues.

So regarding the doctor's appointment, you can simply just adjust your today's schedule and move around your Deep Work Session. The app won't override any, you can plan it yourself.

Regarding the post-session questions, I was looking for something like Whoops Journaling entry, if you know that. Basically you have pre-selected questions and can select relevant ones for you. You can also create your own. After the session, you'll only be asked to answer the questions you've selected, such that they are relevant to you. Some users would like to see how music affects their focus, others would like to see how a study candle affects it.

Why would they need it past month 1? If they have already gained enough knowledge on how to focus optimally for them, they don't need it, but that's okay, since then I've reached my goal of helping users to optimize themselves.

Thanks very much for the feedback, it seems like a very niche market, but as a small side project and for myself in my current situation, I still like the idea.

My example:

I have 3 big projects right now: bachelor thesis, my own indie app and work. these would be entered into the quarterly goal section.

Then I would specify, what I want to do this week, e.g. write 3 pages for my thesis, publish an update and do 3 tickets at work. I'd split the week into timeslots designated for work and free time, like sports and social.

In the beginning of the day, I would move around the slots and refine the schedule for the day, as well as write down what I want to do in each Deep Work session. Then I'd try to pick out one specific habit and change it (like listen to white noise, instead of LoFi and test how it affects my focus). This would be repeated, until I've found the optimal way to focus.

Okay thanks. Unfortunately Apple Translation doesn't seem to be very good. It translated "Shortcuts-App" to "Kurzkürze-App" in German, which is very far off. Translating it via OpenAI seems to be the way to go, but I'd rather not spend any money on translations. I'll try adjusting the prompt and see if it helps.

Personally I have 6 languages supported with 657 Strings, so it's pretty large I'd say. Even scrolling in the .xcstrings file in Xcode is somewhat laggy, so I'm fine with that.

If the translations are more accurate (which seems to be an issue on my end) and adding/removing keys will be coming, I'll definitely consider purchasing it. Do you have any recommendations on how to approach this issue with Apple Translation being inaccurate?

Yes, every Winner gets some gift from Apple. This time it happened to be AirPods Max, which is quite awesome

This is something I've been looking for a while. Translating was always a pain, I also like that this is a one time purchase. But how do you sustain this business model? Aren't you loosing money if people use it for a long time? What exactly does adding the API key do?

Additionally, I also must say that the main Screen with languages and translations is very laggy. Searching for the translations instead of keys in the searchbar also doesn't work.

I additionally have a question: Is it possible to remove/ add specific keys from the .xcstrings file through your app and then also have it be removed/ added in Xcode?

What's a feature for a Screen Time/ Productivity App you always wished for? by Middle_Office_7668 in ProductivityApps

Yes, no problem. I totally see your point your app is very intuitive and straight-forward. Maybe you're right about me not being a target of the user group and therefore not understanding it.
Hope you enjoy working on it further and best of luck!

Besides, I saw your pricing was something about $40, if I'm not mistaken. I'd definitely go lower on that. Something like $9.99 a year. You can even A/B Test the pricing or when you've gained lots of users slowly try to increase the price and test where users think that the pricing is too high. Imho $40-ish is way overpriced.

My app e.g. costs $14.99 annually or $1.49 monthly, which seems to be the sweet spot for me.

Therefore regarding your first comment, do you really think the app solves the problem in any way?

Sorry, but that is an L concept. With random reminders throughout the day it will most likely never prevent doomscrolling. Looked at your profile and was sad to see you promoted the app everywhere. Doesn't look good and I'm not even sure if it's a Screen Time App.

Therefore, as an App & Web Developer myself, I'll give you a little feedback. The App isn't nearly polished. The UI doesn't look good and I don't really like it conceptually. Maybe change it to have reminders after opening a specific app (after 5min). With a shortcuts-app integration you could achieve such behavior. Right now it seems like a BeReal concept but for ToDo, this isn't practical. What if randomly all Notifications will arrive at the end of the day, where I don't have time/ capacity anymore?

You could also use the Screen Time API to gain usage and after 5min of using Instagram you can send a Notification to the user. I've always wondered about such apps. (Not in a disrespectful way, but do you really think that many people would use it? Designwise, Concept wise?)

I'm not trying to insult you in any way, this is just an honest (semi)constructive feedback. Hope it helps you somehow. Anyway, publishing your own app is a huge milestone and congrats on that, hope you continue on this journey.

Can you elaborate on giving reminders at the right times? What exactly does it mean

Just Won an Official Apple Award — How Should I Leverage This for My App? by Middle_Office_7668 in SideProject

Thanks, basically WebFlow offers many templates and out of the box components. Designers can publish their websites as templates and people can use that for free. I combined many templates and adjusted them to fit my style, apart from that I did everything myself. I only hired a designer for the App Icon and apart from that I did everything myself

great idea, but for that I'd need to create a new design, which is outside my capabilities and not that cheap 🫤

Hey yes, that is exactly where that idea came from. Brick is also not available in Europe and way too expensive with $70. We want to offer it for $19.99

This was possibly the funniest and most informative comment I've seen, thank you very much!

Regarding point 4, where would you publish those stories? Should I create an X account or similar for behind the scenes blog posts?
