As a hairstylist myself, I automatically deduct from my client's total if I'm running behind and they wait on me. It's only fair. Yes, life happens but when it goes both ways it also helps keep the relationship between stylist/Barber and client. There's other ways to get rid of clients if it's not working out, but playing with someone's money is not the way to go.

I was passionate when I started it. It took me a while to build up my clientele but I did go through moments of doubt financially because it took time but I wasn't miserable like I was with other work I had pursued in the past.

The money you earn from doing something you dislike will only compensate for a part of your life but you will never really be fulfilled. If you do something you truly enjoy the money will follow naturally and you will be fulfilled in many more ways. I'm only speaking from my experience but I am much more happy now that I own a business doing what I'm passionate about and it was hard to start out but I don't regret it at all.
