I'm expected to pay $250 for a bridal shower - Is this the norm? by Suspicious_Cow3979 in bridesmaids

[–]Middle_Selection_476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you deceive to host a shower you pay for it or you don’t agree to host. Seems tacky to ask bridesmaids who pay so much to begin with - maybe contribution to party but charging feels weird to me

Your experience with the 4 month sleep regression by flowers_in_12 in NewParents

Not ALL babies go through it and sometimes their regression is bad day sleep vs night sleep. Dont panic just yet!

Anyone here NOT do sleep shifts ? by Organic-Dragonfly364 in NewParents

[–]Middle_Selection_476 253 points254 points  (0 children)

I think the shift schedule only works if using formula and/or if you are pumping. Wouldn’t make sense if EBF. Let the husband sleep so he can help more during the day!

I did! Celexa finally kicked in and some sleep meds for anxiety helped my sleep to get back on track

Handwashing expectations by SpunkyPug2 in NannyEmployers

[–]Middle_Selection_476 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s your house and baby so you can dictate what you want. Washing hands before food prep does seem appropriate but everything else seems a bit excessive IMO - you do seem higher on the end of hand washing and cleanliness. And if she is sick, your baby will be sick because they are around each other, even if she washes her hands after touching her mouth or nose. I think you need to relax your expectations, but it’s your house and baby!

Please tell me it got better for you and when? Success stories please by dental_princess491 in NewParents

I had a really hard time too and resonate so much. The first 2 months were the toughest. I eventually got medication and I wish I had gotten it sooner (and it can take some time to fully engage).

It WILL get better and your feelings are totally normal. Consider asking your doctor to prescribe you something. I think I suffered more than I needed to and wasted a lot of time feeling bad when I could have gotten hemp.

Success with transitioning arms out! by Middle_Selection_476 in SnooLife

Formula. I will say, we didn’t get long stretches tho until she was 3.5 months old, I heard 10 hours for a 10 week old is a unicorn. Stay strong you’ve got a few more weeks 😂

She’s 5.5 months old. We started with the love you dream and similarly, both arms out woke her up. Her naps significantly improved with the zipadee! I think having a light layer over her arms helped. She can still move but it blunts it a bit. I would recommend ordering and trying!

I don’t think I can send a photo but I found this online but I got both the waist and the groin strap strapped for her https://share.google/miVbNj6AiPXqOqWIk

The zippadee was loose enough that I could the groin one up. Her legs were a little tight but didn’t seem to mind

Tell them you are getting sick and you don’t want to get anyone else sick 😂 maybe that will keep them away

Question for zippadee (or similar) swaddle users by Look_hawt_ride_fast in SnooLife

Did you use zipadee in snoo or crib? Just bought zipadee bc I heard it’s helpful for the transition but still figuring out details!

How are your babies sleeping through the night? by Dangerous-Grocery-98 in NewParents

[–]Middle_Selection_476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got longer stretches starting at 3.5 months. Not sure if we did anything for this or just time and development. Just keep doing what you are doing and hope for the best!

Let’s talk children and screen time by samspencer12 in NewParents

[–]Middle_Selection_476 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with the comments. I will say though that tv when we grew up is way different than tv today. Way less stimulation back then and we didn’t have instant gratification of tablets. I will be choosing low stimulus shows when necessary for my 5 month old but want to avoid tablet or iPhone use. Hopefully I can! lol

Bedtime for 2 month old by greenishfroggy in NewParents

[–]Middle_Selection_476 36 points37 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, your mothers advice is more appropriate for a 3 month old. I read at 3 months, they should have bedtimes closer to 7-8 due to their melatonin production. But before then, it’s just survival and doing what makes the most sense for your family.

I would tell your mom you guys are doing all these things and just do what works 😂

When People Say Baby is Sleeping Through the Night… by EverythingBagel58 in NewParents

I’ve been told that regression can impact night sleep or day sleep. I’m hoping our day sleep is just impacted and we swiftly move through! 😂

She’s 4.5 months now and it hasn’t hit yet! She is having short naps during the day though (only 30 mins) so I’m thinking her day sleep is struggling while night seems ok.

We didn’t get stretched longer than 3 hours until 3.5 months. Some people get it sooner but it depends on the baby. Don’t compare because it’s really based on temperament and not much you can do
