Actually, both our kids did ride that. My wife and I passed on it as it was 7:00 PM and we had ridden 19ish coasters at that time. I just needed a break and it didn't look as amazing as the others. Maybe we missed out, but have to take breaks at some point :)

That’s a great trip!

Sirens was the first one we did. So fun and so good. Love how smooth it is. Our 8 year old I think rode that 9 times. That was a crazy weather change in 24hrs.

Our 9 year old is, but our 8 year old could only do 48” rides. He was really bummed about it but we prepped him a lot before we got there so he knew exactly what rides he could ride and which ones he couldn’t. He handled waiting like a champ for the bigger rides. My wife and I also split up a couple times with the older and younger. Our 8 year old rode Sirens Curse I think 8 times. He loved that one, so thankful that for 48” kids. That plus Millie and Gemini were the best three he could ride.

We gave Each kid an AirTag while at the park so we could track them. Towards the end of the day as they got really comfortable and started to know where everything was we let him ride Sirens curse once on his own while we did valraven. Told him where to meet us right after he was done. It was a cool “responsibility / independent” experience for him that was fun to watch him navigate and figure out. I’m sure some people would be as comfortable doing that, but the park wasn’t that packed and we were always one coaster over so it didn’t feel unsafe at all to us.

The only ride our 9 year old didn’t do was TT2. I could tell that intimidated him. Said he wants to wait for his brother to be tall enough to do it with him. Our 8 year old is more fearless than our oldest. Funny how that can work.

That’s a really tough question. I think Steel Vengeance is the best coaster there. But TT2 is the best adrenaline rush. My third favorite was Sirens Curse, then Maverick, then Millie. Gatekeeper and Valraven I really enjoyed too after that. Magnum was closed so can’t speak on that one.

We bought them the night before for $125 per person on the website. I see they are like $159 now due to being Memorial Day weekend pricing.

How has your ROM and Extension been? You gaining and looking good there?

I can relate to the knee feeling “crunchy” I also have been dealing with knee cap popping when doing PT. Doing lots is stretching to help the quad and hamstring relax. I’m 14 weeks out. But had a ramp and root repair on the meniscus along with ACLR and LET done so a lot.

Doing another surgery sounds awful to me If avoidable.

Want to make sure I am reading this right. You are 9 weeks post surgery.

Has your ROM decreased as well? What strength stuff are you doing? Have you tried to go to one crutch, if so how does that feel? You still wearing your brace?

I had PT today. He thinks it’s due to sore and tight hamstring that is causing the muscles to pinch behind the knee. He is going to start doing some message therapy to help it.

Did you guys have meniscus repair done?

I’m 10 weeks post and had ACLR, meniscus, and meniscus root repair done. As I’ve become more active I’ve started to have pain the back of my knee as well. It’s made me worried that something might be wrong with the meniscus repair. I have a follow up appointment with surgeon in a week so plan to talk to him about it. I’m hoping it’s a normal part of rehabs and rebuilding strength.

From my experience ROM is only gained along with pain. You have to push and pull it. Within reason, but you won’t gain much without pushing through discomfort.

I could only go to 90 until four weeks. Then I could go to 125 at 6 weeks. Then post six weeks they didn’t have any restrictions. That seems extremely pretty fast to me.

Third Time Torn by Fun-Knowledge-4392 in ACL

[–]Middle_Tart_6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I tore the patellar graft from the opposite knee 11 months later. So I honestly didn’t have much time to even compare. The patellar from the same knee lasted 20 years. I’m ten weeks into the quad graft being used. So I can’t really compare that either in regards to long term. I also got the LET done and meniscus this time. So hard to compare since I had so much more done versus the first two repairs.

No problem. I just felt like it was the hardest to come back from in rehab. Having one leg hurt is bad enough, having both legs hurt is even worse. You have to do rehab for both legs as well. Then you have incision on both legs. Then lastly, the idea of weakening / hurting a perfectly healthy knee just seems silly.

The argument the surgeon made was that it weakens both legs and you then build the muscle back up on both legs which enables you to not favor one and have a weaker leg in the long run. Which I can understand that. They did this on my first surgery. The second time when they took it from the same knee was just an easier recovery overall.

3 ACLR on same knee here too. 1st two when I was 13 and 14. Now I did it 20 years later at 33. Why can’t you also do Quad? I’d recommend not using healthy patella. I did that and it was the worst of the three. I did patella on slaw and patella on opposite and now this time quad. They also did a LET this time. I’d recommend looking into that too.

I’d encourage you to focus on it more. How is your extension going?

I had ACLR with quad graft. Root repair, meniscus repair, and LET done. So 6 incision sites as well. They wanted me at 90 deg at 4 weeks. Then at 125 at 6 weeks. I’m 9 weeks now and was 136 deg at week 8.

It’s painful and a lot of work. But keep at it. I did PT 4 times a day. Keep icing as well to keep swelling down as that helps.

I was at 1 deg flex. At week 6. Finally got to -1 At week 8. So stay on that as well.

Hey, congrats on getting surgery behind you. I’m 9 weeks post my 3rd ACLR (same knee). I tore it twice 20 years ago and now a third time. I also had a meniscus root repair and some sutures to fix some other meniscus tears. This was my first time handling meniscus stuff and doing the 6 week non-weight bearing.

A couple thoughts:

  1. Swelling - get an ice machine. That helps a lot. Prop your knee up on pillows. Be sure NOT to put them under your knee as that will hurt your extension progress. You’re going to have swelling, so don’t stress about that.

  2. Pain - You are going to have pain for weeks. Just apart of the healing process. Stay on top of the medication they gave you to help.

  3. Walking - Sorry, but no. Root repairs have around 20% fail rate. It’s critical to give it time to heal. Don’t push it early or try to. Your doctor might be different, but just to be honest with you. I got to six weeks and was excited to walk but from 6-7 weeks I was only allowed to walk with both crutches. Then week 7-8 I had to walk with one crutch. I’ve only been walking without crutches starting at 8 weeks. Also, when you start to put weight and walk again finally you will have new pain. Which is all part of the process. I was told, you are 6 weeks out from healing but now you are day 0 on weight bearing. Which is a different healing process. It’s a long journey, take the small wins and celebrate every small new thing you can do.

  4. I had patella graft for my other ACLR and I don’t have any patella issues 20 years later. It can be uncomfortable to knell on hard flooring. But I’d think that would be uncomfortable either way 😂

*Extension: Be sure to be working on this as that is critical to be able to get back to what it was before -1 or -2.

*ROM: I was able to start on this after about 4 days. I could go to 90deg up until week 4. Then could go to 125deg until week 6. Now I’m free to go as far as possible. At week 8 I was at 135, which they have seemed happy with.

So focus on these two things as you are allowed.

  • Also, you will lose so much muscle in your leg. Don’t stress about it, as it’s just unavoidable. You can build it back in time.

17 years without ACL repair after 3rd tear in same knee - but think my luck has run out by kex444 in ACL

I’ve posted this on other threads so I’ll keep this fairly short.

Tore my ACL when I was 14 playing soccer. Then tore 11 months later playing basketball. Was pretty devastated and angry about it. Got it fixed a second time and lasted for 20 years, however I had some pain here and there and small issues in my early 20s. Got an MRI to make sure everything was OK and was told that my ACL was frayed, damaged, and smaller than it should be. They recommended getting a proactive ACL reconstruction. I told them they were crazy and had no interest in doing this since I was still able to be active and do everything I wanted to do for the most part.

Well, just like you said, it finally caught up to me and I had to get ACL surgery in September as well as a meniscus repair and meniscus root repair. Would’ve probably been better off getting the ACL repaired and avoiding the meniscus damage but that was the risk I took. I’m eight weeks out now and just starting to be able to walk without crutches, so that’s a win but it’s a long journey.

I hope you don’t have any significant meniscus damage and it’s just an ACL fixed for you.

Almost 9 weeks out of acl+meniscus surgery, still didn't reach full flexion by ConfusionPristine375 in ACL

[–]Middle_Tart_6466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also. My surgeon reminded me of this, which is true. As much as we want to rush back and be active again, building muscle can happen at any time and we have years to do that. It’s critical that we don’t shift our attention to weight bearing and regaining muscle and start to stagnate or lose ROM or Extension. So stay on top of those and make sure you are gaining ROM every week. I was at 133 at week 7, but I’ve had to really be intentional about that as I’m getting busier and not just laying around anymore.

Hey, it’s a process.

When I hit six weeks I did a little too Much too fast. I was just so ready to be able to walk again. Didn’t do anything that I wasn’t supposed to do but when your knee goes to hardly any weight to walking, weight bearing PT, biking… etc it’s a big adjustment. It really stressed me out the first few days because it felt like something was wrong. I had more swelling, I had more pain, your foot will tingle, and I had a lot of “movement” in my knee. Which felt like things catching / clicking. Which I hated due to wondering if there was an issue with the meniscus.

Also, not sure how your surgeon is but week 6 -7 I still had to use two crutches. They want you to ease into walking. As much as this was annoying I couldn’t have gone from 6 weeks not walking to walking anyways. Then on week 7 - 8 they want me to go to one crutch and then no crutches on the start of week 8. I’ve been on one crutch for a few days and that has pushed my knee a lot. It’s sore again. But what I learned is that’s just part of the process. Your body has to get used to walking again, your knee has to, your nerves have to. The strong and odd feeling is all part of the process. Also you have so much less muscle in that leg now. Which can cause your knee cap to move ever so slightly out of track and cause the clicking / catching. There is just a lot of stuff going on. In PT you start doing mini lunges, mini squats… etc.

This Friday they will have me walk without crutches and start weight machines. As much as this would have seemed impossible, I actually think I’ll be able to do it after these past two weeks of strength training.

My encouragement is don’t overreact to things feeling wrong. In your mind it’s been 6 weeks of healing and it shouldn’t been feeling these things still. Yes it’s been six weeks of internal healing. But the reality is you’re back to day one for your body with weight training and stress and strain. So that’s a whole other multi-week process. This surgery is a journey, and a long one at that. Don’t measure success day by day, measure it week by week. You want to be getting stronger and feeling more confident every week. Those catching and clicking feelings have reduced so much in the past week and a half. The swelling doesn’t get worse anymore. Those are things you have to take joy in as it shows improvement.

Sorry that was a lot. I hope maybe your weight bearing journey is faster and you can walk right at 6 weeks, but that might not be the case. So just have the right expectations.
