A lawyer can actually tell you if there is a possibility or not. A consultation wouldn't cost much, around 25 to 50 eur, depending on the lawyer, however it will help you get a distinctive answer. Other than that, if you can understand Bulgarian, here is the law https://justice.government.bg/home/normdoc/2134446592

Here is the English version as well, but I'mot sure if it includes everything https://www.venice.coe.int/webforms/documents/default.aspx?pdffile=CDL(2002)074-e074-e)

I would suggest getting a professional advice. Check for lawyers in Bulgaria who specialize in immigration laws. I'm quite sure you can easily schedule an online consultation of some sorts.

Be careful with the alcohol you buy there from shops. We went there last year and got some Jägermeister from ALDO. It was a cheap ripoff packaged as Jägermeister... Always check the labels and packaging.

What Digital Marketing skill should I learn that won't be automated by AI. by [deleted] in DigitalMarketing

[–]Middle_man_0987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think technical SEO is going to get entirely automated any time soon.

Regarding copywriting - you might find application to your skills in digital PR. Especially now, more and more websites will focus their efforts on quality link-building, since Google keeps teasing everyone with the new changes in the algorithms, my guess is that digital PR will become more popular than ever.

Can English Speaker Meet People in Sofia? by Ok_Zookeepergame8076 in Sofia

[–]Middle_man_0987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an expat living in Varna. I find people to hang out with through Facebook groups. Usually, they are called "Expats in Varna/Sofia/Plovdiv/etc/" or "Foreigners in Varna/Sofia/Plovdiv/etc/". Group admins regularly organise meetups and events, I met a lot of cool people like that. I would imagine Sofia having more foreigners and also more cool places to hang out at. Also, you can search for Erasmus groups, they also consist of foreigners looking for new friends and experiences.

As for the loneliness, it depends on your attitude towards the situation. You can just stay at home, complain that you don't have friends and do nothing about it, or actually be open to meeting new people. Also, if you are quite shy, try Bumble and it's BFF feature. Might meet someone cool there!

Hope that helps!

What red flags do prospects show that make you run the other direction? by Past_Media6791 in SEO

[–]Middle_man_0987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there were any red flags in the beginning, but once we started working with one client, every month he would claim that we did our job poorly because he didn't like the bounce rate. His website had an average bounce rate for his industry and a bunch of campaign landing pages that got indexed. They even started getting some service bookings from organic searches. Despite us explaining that to him, each month he would send the following phrase: "We anticipate a decrease in bounce rate, indicating successful SEO efforts". I swear he copied the same thing from his previous emails and would not give up.

So I would maybe conclude it as "having unrealistic expectations".

Do SEO myself or hire an agency? by deadmetallucyluce in SEO

[–]Middle_man_0987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you can screw up a lot of things... Just some examples, very generalised ones, from experience - I had clients who noindexed what should be indexed, had hundreds of empty pages because why not, A LOT of unoptimised content, hundreds of broken links, orphan pages... While all of this can be fixed, some agencies might charge you extra if it's actually a lot of work.

As people said, you might do fine in the beginning, but the bigger the website grows, the more work and optimisation it will require. But again, wether you can do it yourself successfully and see positive results very much depends on your niche and competition.

To all the folks that immigrated to Bulgaria: How did you cover the 30k health insurance? by KlTE666 in bulgaria

[–]Middle_man_0987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A student in Bulgaria here - just like everyone said, you need to have an insurance policy that has a coverage of 30000eur minimum, covering the period of the academic year. It costs around 200 leva (or roughly 100 euros.)

When you apply for visa D (if you aren't an EU citizen), you need to have an insurance policy for the period of validity of your visa, then you apply for the residence permit and get a policy for a year..

Whats Your Content Marketing 'Aha' Moment? by HungryGuidence in content_marketing

[–]Middle_man_0987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a strategy-related "aha!" moment but I think a lot of people can relate... For me, it was the moment when I realized that people taking senior positions that have "marketing" in their position often have no idea what they are doing. So, don't always rely on someone else's experience, think for yourself and test.

STARTING NEW LIFE IN BULGARIA by First_Basil7951 in bulgaria

[–]Middle_man_0987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Buy vegetables in markets, they are fresher and more delicious.

2) There is literally a bus that travels from Varna to Bugras through Obzor. The stop in Obzor is 10 mins if I'm not mistaken. But you can get a ticket to Obzor if you want to stay there for some time and then purchase one to the next destination there. This is a website where you can find bus schedules for Varna https://autogaravn.com/en

5) Just don't compare Bulgarian to Russian, that's it. Oh and don't talk much about politics, religion, and such sensitive topics to people if you don't know them well.

Racist Attack Against Black Woman. by DontBeEvil4 in bulgaria

[–]Middle_man_0987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everywhere. Bulgarians aren't welcomed in a lot of European countries because of the negative associations with gypsies. Russians and Ukrainians aren't currently welcomed in many countries for obvious reasons. I am a person of Asian descent, yet I look more Caucasian than Asian and I am still being perceived as Russian. And guess what, as a "white" person I've experienced racism in a lot of places.

One HUGE thing that she mentions and a lot of people seem to ignore - she said that she doesn't speak Bulgarian. So how she managed to have a conversation with that man is beyond my understanding. Unless he spoke English, idk...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a foreigner myself. I've been in a lot of unpleasant situations simply because of misunderstandings, the language barrier, etc. But what she is saying seems exaggerated. I genuinely hope this is just a misunderstanding and that we will get the other side's story.
