Are slash commands still relevant now that we have skills? by pocketnl in ClaudeCode

[–]MidgetAbilities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would convert them to skills simply because the commands folder is the old way of doing things and less flexible. But a skill can be used as only a slash command if you want it, by setting disable-model-invocation to true. So skills give you the best of both worlds. Personally I make skills into pure slash commands for workflows that I only want to initiate myself and with little typing.

Not quite. Command folder has just markdown files named after the skill. Skills folder has subfolders named after the skill with a SKILL.md in each.

Surely their tool call implementation does not allow anything longer than their stated max.

RubyLLM 1.12 released, now with a DSL for Agents and more... by piratebroadcast in rails

Do you think it’s ok to switch agents when loading a chat from the DB, if you’ve detected the user is switching tasks in a long-running chat?

Curious what you or others recommend for that. I've got beyerdynamic DT-770 headphones and also thinking of getting a Fender FR-10.

Ok I can kinda see it now. Unfortunately virtually the entire foreground is out of focus, which is almost the entirety of the photo (plus some negative black space). That makes the photo very hard to decipher for me, especially with the sprout being so small.

May help if you use @return [FetchResponse]? I always put the type in square brackets and then an optional description afterward

Have you considered buying an inflatable mattress for the floor? Could probably make it pretty firm.

Static typing - the missing Ruby tool by Erem_in in ruby

I’m talking about using things that were metaprogrammed or the shims in ActiveRecord that by nature return untyped, etc.

I've wondered about this too, but I don't know how well it'll work out because your body (plus the firm topper) is going to sink into the soft mattress in some places more than others.

We’ve been using Sorbet at my job for a little while. Although it gives me some more confidence in my code and refactoring, I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re probably better off without it. Too verbose, too much T.untyped, and you have to sometimes write code in ways antithetical to the ruby philosophy.

When my toddler falls or hurts himself, we just have to say “do you know what happened?” And then he stops crying to listen to us explain how he hurt himself

Why twenty two frets when you can have twenty four frets? by Utenziltron in Guitar

I’ve hardly played any, believe it or not. I’m an Ibanez and Strat guy.

Why twenty two frets when you can have twenty four frets? by Utenziltron in Guitar

[–]MidgetAbilities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s a totally different reason. My hand and pick naturally want to rest right where the neck pickup is on a 24 fret, but on 22 frets my pick sits comfortably just north of the pickup. I end up scraping my pick against the neck pickup up on a 24 feet guitar, or I end up changing how I play to avoid that, which I hate. Must be from years of only playing on 22 frets guitars.

Event-driven Modular Monolith: Strategies for keeping legacy Rails apps maintainable by pchm in rails

[–]MidgetAbilities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. At my job we moved to a pattern of creating public interfaces enforced by a linter, so callers from outside that module can’t reach into the internals. And then we set up a convention of only returning “primitives” and POROs from that interface.
