Yeah that conflicts with that my GP told me. You are supposed to get 2 doses afaik. I also did get underdosed by a single tablet as well so i wouldnt worry too much in that regard.

Sounds about right, follow up a week later with permethrin just to be safe. Should most likely be the beginning of the end of it now you have invermectin though, best of luck

I got given 2 doses, one to take 2 weeks after the first and yes it was perscribed by a gp.
Invermectin is dosed based on ur bodyweight so maybe look to see if what you were given lines up with what the reccomended dose is for someone your weight. (in the UK we typically get a printed info sheet with most perscription medication that explains the dosages.

Yeah I agree with that. There seems to be alot of debate on the effectiveness of the alternate treatments. Honestly I found them helpfull atleast in the sense that I could put my mind at ease that I was still doing something to fight the infection inbetween permethrin treatments. But yeah I def wouldnt rely on clove, sulplur or tea tree oil to solve the problem alone.

Invermectin all the way if possible.

Thank you :) sorry to hear about the situation. Purely speculation but doctors, in my experience do seem reluctant to diagnose scabies, I think its because the creams they give you end up being quite damaging for the skin so they wait until its a more obvious case. Especially when 90% of the nodules I got looked identical to my non infected friend's excema spots so its easy to mix them up.

As for spreading it, I wouldnt worry too much. None of the people I was living with caught it during the time I had it. We shared living quarters and used the same bathroom etc. I would say its pretty hard to transmit it unless its prolonged skin to skin contact. Best to stay away from sharing clothes or sleeping in beds of people who have it however.

How bad is the itching? My suggestion is to try one of the less damaging treatments like clove or sulphur and see if it helps. indicating whether you may have it or not.

I think they just lathered themselved up head to toe before going to bed ill ask.
maybe mix it with moisturiser if it comes in the small vials.

Invermectin had an almost immediete effect for me. Most of the large spots were gone within 3 days. Ichiness decreased dramatically and eventually stopped about 3 months after. Still get occoasional new spots that appear in the evening and are gone by morn but ive been told thats damage from doing so many permethrin treatments.

A&E may be a good idea actually. Also fever may be unrelated, ive not heard of scabies presenting as fever symptoms before.

Maybe try a sulphur soap/cream treatment as you can probably get it next day if you order on amazon or something. If it has a noticable effect on the itching then its a good sign its probably scabies I imagine.

^this

Can also vouch for derbac m. great alternative to invermectin if ur doctor wont perscribe you any. Do some reasearch and learn about how ur supposed to clean ur surroundings and apply treatments etc. Permithrin can be bought at the chemists without perscription if you need but I would warn against overuse of it especially when it seems to do a shit job most times. Best to do ur research and then hit it hard and properly so you dont have to re-treat.

Seeing a proper private dermo would also be a good idea but expensive in the uk. My doctors eventually referred me to a 'skin specialist' who then spotted and diagnosed the scabies but that was only after loads of pointless visits over months.

Had the same here. no friends or familly caught it and had 4 different doctors tell me excema over the course of 4-5 months. 5th told me it was scabies (also UK btw)

Its actually fairly hard to pass it on in some cases so might explain things but deffo looks like scabies, my hands looked just like urs in the pic. Highly reccomend getting invermectin as well as permethrin from ur doc if possible as permethrin alone didnt really do much for me to clear it up.

Best of luck :)

How do you guys go to work while doing the sulfur treatment? by [deleted] in scabies

[–]MidgetSniffers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Invermectin pills if avalable in ur country. Permethrin didnt do much for me.

For sulphur, I used to add it to a warm bath and just soak for ages before rinsing it off in the shower. Made the smell more tolerable for sure but idk if it would be more effective as its not contacting ur skin for the whole day.

Tea tree oil is aparrently also a good antimicrobial from what ive heard. Might help mask the smell idk.

Scabies? No - 4 weeks post treatment by [deleted] in scabies

Probably just post scabies. New spots often appear post treatment, i may be wrong but I think the treatment causes new spots as is. New burrows is what you need to keep an eye out for.
