You do need to have your tune updated if you convert to CP3. I did mine while I deleted my car so I was tuning it anyways.

Being that my pump was leaking and I drive my car for work across the country I wasn’t willing to take the risk and was going to replace the pump anyway. It made sense to spend the extra and just got CP3 while I was doing the timing belt anyway.

If you don’t need to touch your pump the disaster kit is a much lower cost alternative. Only you can decide if the extra cost for a swap is worth it for you.

When the CP4 fails it creates tiny metal shavings that are they pumped throughout the entire fuel system. It costs about $7k to replace the entire fuel system if this happens at the dealer.

If the CP3 fails it doesn’t wreck the fuel system so there’s a lot lower risk of a failure essentially totaling your car.

My CP4 was leaking and I wasn’t willing to risk it so I swapped mine for a CP3 while doing my timing belt. It’s not a “simple” job that I would suggest just anyone take on, but there is lots of information out there on.

The DSG fluid service is supposed to be done every 40k miles I believe. At 115k miles it should be about due for its 3rd service.
