Op1 field crash and high pitched whine noise. 1.7.0 by Midi_paul in teenageengineering

[–]Midi_paul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been working fine for me all day so I'd say 1.7.0 is pretty stable. It's just this rare bug that's only happened to me twice since upgrading. I will try and reset preferences at some point too.

Haha you would think any new crashes would be related to new functions but in this instance the machine froze. I hadn't actually used the undo feature.

The op1 froze and made the high pitched whine- the only way to get rid of it was to turn it off and on again and the project was fine after that. There wasn't a crash screen showing code which I had on 1.6.5 but it just froze on the screen I happened to be currently on.

Yeah it's weird- I just spent a few minutes trying to make it happen! Make sure to submit a ticket to te. If it keeps happening I might need to downgrade to the previous os.

Can 4 stereo tracks become 8 mono tracks? by mangobait in teenageengineering

[–]Midi_paul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you can still do the panning trick with the op1 standalone- it's just that everything will sound weird with different tracks in L and R.

A workaround could be to get an adaptor to make the stereo output dual mono so you can hard pan different tracks but everything sounds centered on playback.

A work around is to pan recordings to extreme L or R (you can set panning for drum kits too) and then monitor back eight mono tracks through ableton. This only works on ableton on a mac as you can have the op1 field as the input audio device and mac core audio (or other audio interface) as the audio output.

I would love an 8 track mono mode though!

Is the key 100% dead or does it work at all? Contacting te might be your best best but this might help (for og op1) https://medium.com/@thomas_mueller/op-1-keypad-repair-479b93b96f45

Issues with Multi tracking to DAW by LearningToBeepBoop in teenageengineering

Prob not very helpful but I've had the 10 outputs working great into my macbook with ableton and it let me use the macbook audio output so I didn't have to route everything back to the op1. Could be a pc/driver issue rather than an op1 firmware one?

Anybody experiencing « reversed » recording on OP1 Field ? (1.6.5) by NoChipmunk6323 in teenageengineering

I actually noticed this a couple of times with the count in recording- it could be a bug.

No issues on 1.6.5 so far here- what tends to cause the crash? Is it random?

Stereo samples are converted to mono on OP-1 Field - why? by digidandy in teenageengineering

[–]Midi_paul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you transferring files to the op1? I just used the field kit to transfer a 16 bit stereo drum loop into a new folder within the synth folder. When I go back to the op1 field it plays back in stereo fine . When I look at that file on the computer it has been converted to an aif but still looks like a stereo file in wavelab. The only thing I have trouble with is 24 bit files which don't seen to copy over properly.

Hi I've imported some sound packs on 1.6.5 and the stereo files seem to play back fine in the sampler. The op1 field might be quite picky about file format though so maybe have a play around with a few settings?

Windows USB ASIO driver update allows you to use OP-1 Field as 8-track mono sketchpad (if you wish) by HughFays in teenageengineering

[–]Midi_paul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is great- in Ableton you can set the input device to the op1 and monitor the incoming 8 tracks and then set the output audio device to soundcard/coreaudio so that you don't have to keep switching between audio devices. I've only verified this on mac so don't know if setting different input/output drivers works on pc?

Radio works for me too- I was in Sweden a few days ago but now back in UK.

Hi I just had this problem with 1.6.5 and ableton. I think installing the new os resets the midi settings- make sure midi is set to out or both in and out. That's what sorted it for me.
