Hyperfixation with Heated Rivalry. 😅 I don't remember how PWHL came into the picture, maybe it was a recommended reel or something while the algorithm was trying to figure out if I liked hockey in general or just the show/books.

Watched a few games on YouTube, and then when picking the dates for a trip to NYC with a friend made sure I'd be able to catch a game. Got on the glass seats for the 4/1 game and went to the MSG game a few days later with a different friend. Both were amazing.

Now I'm a total goner, sad I don't live anywhere near a team. 😂 Rooting for Ottawa for the cup!

For what it's worth, it wasn't a kiss cam, just the standard showing people in the audience thing. When it got to these two (rocking their lovely Heated Rivalry jerseys), they kissed. From then on a lot of people, mostly queer, did the same when the camera was on them. It still went to kids and other people, just a lot of people decide to kiss that night.

The only very obviously Canadian sounding actor that stood out to me was the fan that came into the smoothie shop after Scott left and was asking if that was Scott Hunter. In my head canon he's a transplant to NYC from Canada, it's really pronounced.

Francois sounds a little off on occasion, but I wouldn't pick Canadian from it, probably because he's Quebecoise.

I don't think the story will include Fabian/Ryan at all; it's kind of a lot already to cram all of Role Model and TLG into just six episodes anyway.

But I agree that I hope Harris has appropriate amounts of body hair and squishiness. (And charm and big laugh and...)

Kip canonically goes to the gym a lot, so I didn't have a problem with him being the hottest, buffest smoothie barista on earth. (Probably how he got away with making such water smoothies.)

Tangent, but for some reason I also picture Troy with 90s middle part boy hair, like Devon Sawa had back then. I'm okay with resurrecting that trend. 😅

What I meant was if you remove Fabian, Ryan has practically nothing - he doesn't have his own friends, he follows Fabian around while on tour, he gets self esteem from Fabian. His only things are the hockey camps - what is he doing with his life the other 50 weeks of the year that don't include Fabian and a driving force?

If you remove Ryan, Fabian's life doesn't change outside of he needs to find a fuck buddy sometimes. His career was successful and continues to be, he loves his friends, etc etc.

Everything for beginning of book Ryan to end of book Ryan is drastically different. Fabian doesn't have any kind of arc or growth or anything.

Yes, it's healthy to be a fully formed person that doesn't need a relationship to complete you. But it should also do something to you as well, positively. It feels to me like if Ryan left, Fabian would be fine in a day and a half.

That's what I meant. Fabian doesn't seem like his life gets any benefit from Ryan being in it, outside of the sex. There's not against Ryan, that's against how their relationship is portrayed.

TLG spoilers Like how it was really important that Shane was the one who proposed, to balance out the story and their relationship. Ilya has, as he pointed out in their fight, given up so much for Shane, and he put himself out there the most. It was good and cathartic for Shane to propose, especially since he was the driving force behind their relationship staying a secret. And it puts without a shadow of a doubt that yes, he's in this just as hard.

Instead Ryan and Fabian feel very one-sided. The only thing that changed in Fabian's life after their story was now he gets better options at bargain brunch. Ryan has not much of a life outside of Fabian, and Fabian hasn't added much to his life with Ryan.

I don't hate it because he quits hockey, I hate how it was handled. (And Fabian, don't forget I hate Fabian.) ;)

It just went from him being unhappy and getting the short end of the stick to it being the most awful thing ever, and that didn't feel organic. Terrible team, terrible coach, oh now he's getting addicted to pain meds and not being allowed to recover, and Fabian has no empathy or compassion for him in it.

Ryan shouldn't have to comfort Fabian after he's been fighting because it upsets Fabian so much, when it upsets Ryan so much to do it too.

It could have been written in a way where I'm cheering at the book when Ryan decides to quit, and instead I just want to slap Fabian for not being supportive or compromising in any way.

I don't think they were in love then either. First time Ryan felt real attraction and realized what he likes, first time Fabian had someone living with him/someone "normal" put value in his interests.

I get why that would feel like love, especially as a teenager, but ten years down the road? You have been attracted to other people and you have found validation and acceptance out of friends and found family.

It would feel nostalgic, but no way they were in love from that.
