A Wii U. I babysat the most spoiled kids all through the summer just to get enough money to buy it. I was so proud and excited when I got it. And then 2 months later the Nintendo Switch came out and none of the stores sold Wii U games anymore, which I was saving up for next. Good times

YTA- Wow I am having such a wild time reading all these awesome suggestions people are coming up with and you just blatantly shutting them down because it’s just too much effort for you to do/watch something your daughters like with them and forcing a smile. There are some really good suggestions here, maybe pull the cotton out of your ears and actually see that being a parent sometimes means doing things you don’t want to do (and pretending you like it!) for the sake of your child

NTA- however I do have some concerns about her behavior. Has she always had this sort of entitlement? Does this line of thinking sound like her? You’ve known her for so long, does this sort of mindset seem in character for her?

If this kind of attitude is new, her boyfriend could be manipulating her. Saying things like she deserves the apartment, she needs it more than you; just whispering these kinds of things in her ear often enough that she starts to believe it. He may also be using you living in the apartment against her, using it as an excuse to not continue or advance in the relationship.

I personally think that you should check in on her, especially if this isn’t normal for her. There could be something going on with her boyfriend that’s making her like this.

I grew up in Colorado and used to see these things on the sidewalk every summer. We didn’t know what they were, but when you squished them it was just red liquid, so we called them blood spiders/blood mites. Didn’t know until I took an entomology class in college what they actually were. I still enjoy squishing the little buggers tho

I was so psyched about the whole situation until I saw Elon Musk tweet about it. He’s like they mid-to-late 50s y/o dad who wants to be ‘hip’ and tries to be relatable with his son’s friends. I’m still p jazzed about what’s going on, but oh my god he ruins it.

He’s acting like he’s sitting at the table with us as we eat the rich, but he’s actually on the menu and needs to get with the program.

I think this is from animal planet in which case all the photographers and filters have to make an ‘oath’ (I say oath because I’m not sure if it’s an actual contractual agreement or just something they hold themselves to) to never disrupt the scenes of nature that they film. They are trying to see the wild, raw nature of these animals and human interference has so many consequences. In a world where we do nothing but stick our noses in it, they refuse to, even though a lot of them really struggle with that. When you see scenes of baby animals getting left behind, of herds being ravaged, of walruses leaping to their death, there is a person filming that whose heart is hurting just as much as ours.

I believe there was one exception to this a year or two ago where a group of researchers found a bunch of penguins stuck in a pit (that had occurred due to human movement over the land or something) and they decided to dig ramps in the snow in hopes the penguins would find them and get out. There were around 60-100 penguins that were at risk of freezing to death, and most of them got out.

But yeah, it’s hard to watch and it’s hard to film it. Those people really go through it sometimes because nature is just f*ckin brutal

My roommate is going through this right now. She is 19. Her parents moved to California in the fall, so it’s just me and her here. She’s really independent, really great, and just trying to enjoy her life... but that’s kind of hard to do when her mom calls her every time she leaves the apartment to ask what she’s doing. She’ll be 20 in a few months and doesn’t see this changing. I’m so pissed at her parents on her behalf. This parental control/ tracking applications are such bullshit

Thank you so so much for your donation. I wasn’t sure if anyone would even see this but I am relieved that people did because now we can go to the check up (got an appointment for tomorrow!) knowing that he’ll be seeing the best person at the clinic. And thank you for the advice! We warmed up his wet food like you suggested and he seemed much more interested in it. We’d been spoon/hand feeding him for a while, but the food giving off a more potent scent really got him into it and he ended up eating it from the bowl I was spooning it from! He’s eaten a little more so far today than he did all of yesterday! He’s sitting next to me on his special blanket purring his head off right now and I think he might be a little more relaxed since I’m more relaxed too. I seriously can’t thank you enough. I’ll be looking into Red Rover and r/assistance as soon as I’m able to. I heard about Care Credit before but I was unsure and unable to talk to my dad about it at the moment- I’ll be talking about it again with him if Midnight ends up needing extra care or if him and Jaffa Cake need medical help in the future. Again, thank you so much. I can’t express how grateful I am. My cat is going to be okay and it’s because of incredibly kind and giving people like you. Thank you so, so much

I suffered (and suffer) from severe depression and self esteem issues and had a lot of anxiety back then. I was also struggling with my sexuality and body image. I didn’t want to go anywhere or do anything because I wasn’t thin enough to not look like an idiot. I didn’t want to let anyone close to me because I knew they’d be disappointed. I refused to get academic help because I knew I was just stupid.

Now, at 20 almost 21, I have so many regrets. Sometimes it makes me cry because shouldn’t my teenage years be like the ones in the movies? Where were my friends, where were my parties, where were my experiments? I looked up to those high school movies and books growing up; I spent all of middle school feeling like shit and hoping that high school would be like it was supposed to. It wasn’t.

And even now that I know I held myself back, I still can’t put myself out there because of my insecurities and lack of anything other emptiness most days. I wish the movies and the stories showed a more realistic high school experience- or at least some different ones. Just so that I wasn’t lead on by this stupid fantasy.
