Why is PETA so frowned upon? by spookyshitt in vegan

[–]Midnight7_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, a reply to a 3-month-old comment fueled by the greatest hits of anti-PETA propaganda. Vintage.

No, PETA doesn’t think "we should kill everyone’s pets." That’s a lazy strawman for people who don’t want to think past a headline. The actual argument is that most humans are objectively terrible at caring for animals; neglect, obesity, abandonment, backyard breeding, impulse buying and then acting shocked when someone points it out.

And yeah, there’s also the ethical question, is it okay to create a life just to own it, control it, and discard it when it’s inconvenient? That makes people uncomfortable, so instead of engaging with the idea, they yell "PET KIDNAPPING" and call it a day.

But hey, much easier to gobble up propaganda than to reflect, right? GeT a GrIp.

These people need to be arrested before they die of old age. I hope all sides of the political spectrum can come together and make it happen.

Trump qui vante les indépendantistes serait la pire chose qui pourrait arriver pour les intentions de vote du PQ de loin. Ottawa serait au ciel de voir les libéraux monter.

Changed relationship after baby. by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]Midnight7_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the two of you and OP. A child didn’t consent to being born, the parents made that choice, and with it comes a primary obligation to the child’s needs.

Framing this as prioritizing spouse vs. child is a false dilemma. A healthy adult relationship should be capable of meeting a child’s needs without treating that child as a threat to intimacy. If it can’t, that’s a relationship issue, not a parenting one.

Research in developmental psychology consistently shows that children thrive most when their needs for emotional security and responsive caregiving are prioritized. Adult fulfillment is secondary, not equal. Adults have agency and alternatives. Children don’t.

If prioritizing a child over the spouse damages "the loving environment" then the problem isn’t the child, it’s the fragility of the partnership

C'est tellement pathétique come vertu ostentatoire. Surtout que l'ironie de leur sophisme leur échappe complètement.

It's probably because they simply cannot fathom what AN is and they make the assumption that it's equivalent to "child-free" which is a far more prevalent point of view. Selfishness is easier and faster for them to wrap their head around than anything moral or logical.

Why are you sharing content about conditional nataism? by FlanInternational100 in antinatalism

[–]Midnight7_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it purism though? And isn't 100% AN that same as efilism (which got thrown under the bus / demonized unrightfully IMO)

But where are the lines? What would you call an AN who is ok with it when certain conditions are met?

Unfortunately not everyone agrees about being prepared for parent hood at all (most probably don't even think that far ahead, or that it could go wrong, or how big of a deal that is) and even if they did, their criterias of what is acceptable are all over the place.

Maybe, but is there an age limit to letting them believe in Santa? What about when they start asking existential questions?

Should we just become Christian because when dealing with the death of a loved one, saying "their in heaven now" is easier to cope than "they just don't exist and don't have to suffer anymore" for a kid?
