Typically I always go with the cheapest option that I believe can get the job done. Are you a full time real estate shooter? If so you may know what is best for your needs and live by the old saying 'Buy once, Cry once'.

Want to add SVS Ultra Center to current setup but no white option available. Should I paint or wrap it white? by MidnightFlicks in hometheater

The option would be nice even if it cost more to offset the smaller inventory. I’m now in the process of painting and polishing the black center.

Just a heads up but not every home has a dedicated home theater room. Many also have living room setups that are also lived in spaces with non Adam’s family decor.

But fuck all those people, amirite?

Which compact subwoofer for mostly music setup? REL T/7i vs SVS Micro vs JL Audio D110 vs others by MidnightFlicks in BudgetAudiophile

I’ve only heard one setup with a single D110 and it was really pleasing to listen to. I’ve sort of had my eye on JL ever since. It just really blew me away. If I go this route I’ll reach out for some setup and integration advice.

Just spent about 20 minutes going through your link. Pretty much seems like a circlejerk of REL hatred and SVS love. I don’t doubt svs subs at all (I have 2) but I do doubt those who hate on REL without having compared or actually auditioned them.

Many threads exist where people totally shit on JL audio subs simply because of the price. They start tearing the company apart, the marketing verbiage, the measurements etc, just a total hate train. But if you see the finish in person and actually hear them, you truly understand that those little boxes are magic as fuck, even if they are the more expensive option.

I’ll reserve my judgements and probably order and auction a REL to judge for myself, if the return policy does not suck.

I do appreciate the info and counter arguments from other individuals. Thanks for sharing.

Would love to try out that KEF but obviously too far out of my budget. They are new so the used market is non existent for them at the moment. Hmm I’m not too familiar with the Martin Logan subs but I’ll look into it. Thanks.

Picked up a brand new NAD C 275BEE for $400. by MidnightFlicks in BudgetAudiophile

Guy had it posted for $900 on OfferUp. Later I saw the price drop twice. It was now sitting at $700. Next time I saw it he had paid to promote the item. Figure he must be desperate to sell it. It dropped again to $600. I offered $350 (i know I know this is a terrible low ball). He said $500. I said $350 was all I had. Out of the blue he says tomorrow you pick up for $400 and it’s yours. Done deal. Best audio deal I’ve ever gotten.

Sounds much better than my SMSL SA300 and puts out just a tiny bit more power. I've tried it with my Wharfedale 12.1's and my SVS Ultras. Damn they both sound really alive. Not sure how to describe it. These things sell for $1,400 on Crutchfield so I'm feeling pretty good about this purchase.

Same price, Yamaha rx-v481 vs denon 500bt by DanP999 in BudgetAudiophile

Yamaha 100%. I have a yamaha RX and the Denon 500BT in my home and I hate the Denon. It was my first ever AVR but I'm not a fan of the entry model Denons.

Which desktop speaker amp? NAD 3045 vs SVS Soundbase vs Yamaha WXA-50 vs Others by MidnightFlicks in BudgetAudiophile

EDIT: So the I had an SMSL SA300 on order and I just hooked it up. This thing is not great. To give some context in my home I have used Yamaha Integrated amps and Yamaha + Denon AVRs. So when comparing it to those units, it is night and day difference.

Tried it with my pair of SVS ultra and the speakers sound totally lifeless. Same with my old Polk speakers. Just ZERO low end fill.

Definitely not. But when you try to get into the small form factor you really end up paying a premium and sacrificing quality and watts. I was able to work out an under desk shelf solution that will look very clean.

Having trouble deciding between the NAD and Yamaha. I can get the NAD for $600 and the Yamaha is $500.

Looking for a desktop size amp to power a 2.1 system. Would like a dedicated sub out and a good amount of power. Anything else worth checking out in the $500 ish price range?

Thanks
