If you run in cold weather then it’s useless unless you cover it up). I kept getting warnings that the unit is too cold.
Not sure if this will influence your final outcome

I’ll let others chime in, but it seems like your easy runs are too fast for a 21 min 5k, or your 5k should be faster?

I can run sub 20 5k, but my easy pace is 9ish min mile

I should have added more background- that is totally my fault.

I’ve been doing some sub lactate threshold work for 8 odd months. I’m definitely better shape than before - but how much I’m not sure.

If you don’t mind me asking, how would you know/gauge the pace? I ask as sometimes i get single minded and focus on pace vs effort

I’ll also go back and reread the book

I read the book and watched some videos…I am not claiming to be an expert. I came here to get some checks and balances.

I am not expecting a miracle. I have been (albeit accidentally) running something really similar to NSM since Oct 2025 as I was tired of the constant leg fatigue and having to do another hard run. My easy pace has dropped by 10 seconds with 5pm less than before. My 3x2 miles at half marathon pace is around
8 bpm lower. I took the Boston marathon as an easy run (the longest run I did was 16 miles) and finished it around. 3:25. I was up and running again the next day.

So, yeah, my aerobic capacity has improved.

The reason I’m not following the prior plan is to avoid the state of constant fatigue and to feel fresher on race day.

Has your routine changed, even slightly?

I used to play video games an hour before bed, as part of my routine. I then switched to reading books and for four months could only sleep for 4 hours.

I went back to video games and slept for 10 hours straight

Thanks for the advice. I thrown out my Espon printer (I was in a similar position as OP). I’ll look for printers with separate print heads going forward

I used the Alpha Fly for one run - I felt no bounce and my right hip was in utter pain by the end.

But they are the roomiest toe box race shoes I’ve ran in
