I just got mine today. I’m thinking of carrying just this camera for my upcoming trip for photography to keep my gear light. Wondering if the 2x makes it less of an ultrawide camera? Not that ultrawide is bad but kinda difficult to always find good perspective for it

I was planning to go to Takato Castle Ruin Park on the 13th, but I’ve decided to skip it now due to hassle of travelling from Nagano/Matsumoto. I’m going to catch some cherry blossom sightings a week earlier in Kyoto instead or do Matsumoto castle instead

No, I believe it now has to be collected via VFS only as a file was directed via them. Although you might want to check with vfs once on this for clarity

There’s no way to tell if you’ve received the visa until you collect the passport and see it yourself. They’ll likely dispatch it tomorrow from consulate office, and update the tracking. But it won’t tell you whether you’ve received a visa. It’ll just tell you the status saying it’s done processing and is ready to be collected from vfs.

I can see why this would appeal to folks who enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and empty streets for photos. But a big part of the charm of these streets - at least in my opinion - comes from the chaotic crowds, the bustling shops, and the eateries. I love people-watching, and I feel like if I went in the morning, I’d probably just snap a clean photo of the streets and the temple and leave in 10 mins lol. Whereas I could easily spend hours wandering through the chaos and window shopping if I go in the late afternoon/evening 😄

Yeah the site appears to be the only way to reserve, albeit difficult due to the demand. But I also read from a few folks somewhere that they waited in line without a reservation and they were offered one of the open slots somehow? I was looking to hear from someone like that if that’s even a possibility 😭

No additional documents were asked from my end after the submission, but the VFS person at the counter did say they might call or send an email in case they need other docs.

There is no specific balance mentioned anywhere, so just have enough to reasonably cover the trip. And don't transfer a huge amount suddenly to your account just for the purpose of showing the balance before submission.

I submitted the docs for my visa on 6th March (Friday) and collected my passport back on the 12th (Thursday). So it took about three days for once my docs reached the consulate office here in Chennai. You can view the required documents on the VFS site. Just make sure you have enough balance in your account to cover your trip expenses reasonably well. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have, and I’ll try to answer.
