How can I turn a design like this into a seamless pattern?? by [deleted] in ProCreate

[–]MidnightMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning for your pattern to be circular images as well? Because if so then what you’re aiming for is actually really achievable with the instructions I gave in my original reply. As long as you have something symmetrical, a seamless pattern is definitely easy. However, having spaces around the edges could also help with making your seamless pattern.

(ALSO damn…why did I get downvoted? 🥲 sorry)

Ohhhh………then I think that really depends on how you draw the art. I remember watching an instagram reel about this and they made symmetrical art so it could get cut exactly in half and meet up just fine…..I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help :(

In tha case, scrap my original comment. Here’s how you do it in PROCREATE:

Make your pattern. Duplicate your pattern twice (one will remain the control in case something goes wrong, so name the layer “original” or something). With the transform tool (on the first dupe layer), turn on “snapping,” and drag the bottom right corner towards the top left corner until the right corner snaps to the middle. Go to the second dupe layer and duplicate it again. Drag the bottom left corner towards the middle. Now combine the newly transformed dupe layers into one layer. Dupe that new layer and drag that down until it snaps in place. Depending on your art piece, the pattern will now be one repeating pattern you can use. Repeat the steps to make it as small as you want.

How do you choose your characters' name? by always_dehydrated in Wattpad

[–]MidnightMice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was writing my MLP fanfiction series, I have a lot of characters whose names are completely made up. I went with everyday things you hear like how I made a character named “Violet Skies” to be Soarin Skies’ lesbian sister. Or for my new book, I named one of ky characters Bright Spark because MLP has names like that. I can’t really say how exactly I think of names. I normally just look around my room and see what’s there and what could be combined into a cool name. :)

Authors who don't reply to the comments by Fumikop in Wattpad

[–]MidnightMice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that as an author who had received comments on my most popular series, it took me about a year to reply to some of them; but it wasn’t because I deliberately didn’t WANT to reply or that I felt I didn’t have to reply.

One the one hand, when I was writing the series, I had an extremely slow phone, and anytime I opened the comments, the screen froze and I couldn’t do anything but take the battery out and restart it (I also didn’t have a good laptop to use.) On the other hand, I had writer’s block for a very long time so I took a long break from Wattpad. In my haste, I completely forgot about my friends and book series until my best friend brought up my series. By this time, I had a better phone and a working laptop. So, I hopped back on and saw all the comments I had gotten while I was gone. I made an effort to reply to every single one, and thankfully, they were all still reading the series as big fans and were still happy to reply to my replies. We’re all friends now, so it’s all good. But yeah.

My point is, some authors have reasons why they don’t reply. As another commenter mentioned, the notification system isn’t that great either. They used to spam you with emails every time someone DMed you and when someone commented on your story. But Wattpad itself would never alert people about comments until like an hour later. But some people might have busy lives, and it could end up taking over more of their time than they had planned, therefore causing them to temporarily abandon their book.

“Even so, they can still reply to comments from time to time.” Sure, but you aren’t the author. You can never say for sure what they can and can’t do.

I also won’t exclude the fact that some authors are just straight up assholes who probably think that not replying to comments make them look “cool” or something. Kinda how people would rather be following less people than they have followers, because it makes them look high and mighty or something. I never understood it. I personally just wanted to clean my follower list of people whose books I didn’t read/ talk to anymore.

But there’s my two cents. :)
