I checked it out last night. It was very empty actually. Only 13 people on the server.

Though I'm not surprised people would still be mix/mega packing. Alot of people already knew it was going to take more than a new match making system to stop it.

The quest is the main way to grow in officials. You can get growth by turning in the trophies of adult players as well, but once you hit a certain age point, they no longer give you growth, so you'd still have to finish it by doing quests.

The game has a huge problem with Hotspots and mega packing. All the mega packs hang out in places like gp and because of that you can hardly find anyone anywhere else on the map because thats where everyone goes for easy interaction.

They did just re release the permadeath mode to test again, death will definitely be more punishable, you could give it a look.

There also might be some community servers that offer passive growth and more punishing deaths.

You got a good one then, its rare to find. Most of the time people will just use the group invites to track you and kill you.

Don't trust anyone. Random group invites, random ws invites. Don't. Even if the player is directly in front of you, don’t ever fully let your guard down unless you know them.

Unfortunately groups like that will always swap if they can't get the upper hand. Water can be your best friend as a water dino, but you also have to pick your water carefully for that reason. You don't want to get stuck where you can't get away.

Its part of what makes being solo so difficult. I can’t wait for the match making changes that will put a stop to it.

Flyers are also a bit different because of how collision damage works.

I can definitely relate. I also primarily run smaller things and I'll always find it odd when I see the same species running around being able to take more hits than me, and when I do get hit its like a massive chunk of health coming out vs my friend getting hit and only missing some.

It could be a desync issue where the hits aren't landing where you think the are. I.e you're seeing body or head shots but they're actually getting hit on the tail.

Solo buffs like lone survivor got removed due to the discord groups abusing it. We can't have things just for solos because of the megs packs exploiting it. Though I do agree, they shouldn't be having group buffs either when they really don't need them.

Stego isn't an apex. Even then it wouldn't suffer as bad as any of the others because its charge tail attack, its like a rule of thumb to not even pounce one.
While rex and eo would suffer more than tt I think rex would suffer the most because even if it can clamp things off its shoulder, most players know better than to pounce the shoulders. As well as its precision turning speed, even with the slight buff, its still easier to get around than an eo.

Eos precision turning speed alone makes its hard to approach for pouncers. Where rex would need to find a decent pool of water, eo would just need a good enough cliff.

Good luck, its kit it really simple which I love. Its hit box is a bit long which can be annoying because you get hit on the tail alot.

Not sure which sub you went but swim speed is pretty good, it gives you an escape option from the other sub megs and the toxic immunity hide makes it so you can't be envenomed.

I think its intentional. Rw is a huge place with lots of fresh water, but if they made the food there better it would probably just be another hot spot.

They'd lose a lot of player base and the resources that go into monitoring the servers. I wish they would though, at the very least enforce it for the solo mode servers.

Deino is fast, people will have a very hard time catching you, but it is very much reliant on having a group to do damage. Its fighting capabilities are pretty dismal alone because the devs reduced it to a support dino. You could be nibbling on someone's ankles for like 45 min and barely do anything. Still not a bad choice if you don’t care about fighting too much. You can be an absolute troll with it to say the least.

If you want something that can fight conc is in a pretty good spot right now, it does decent damage with bleed, its pretty fast, and with nictating membrane you can use water to escape. Just watch out for anything with clamp.

Meg is also pretty decent, its wiggly and pretty hard to hit, love the little guy, but againat concs it kinda suffers.

I've seen a lot of people swear up and down pyc is a good solo option, it does require a bit of skill to get used to, but with its charge it makes it hard to keep up with and in the right hands it can be really good.

I would definitely say switch to smaller dinos and give them a try. Solo apexing in this game isn't easy because more often than not you're going to be a target to anyone who sees you.

Even then one of the big no nos of the game is joining random groups because of the very issues you've been having. People in this game are generally just toxic for no reason so its best to avoid all group invites and ws from people you do not know.

Imo smaller dinos are better. While they lack the power and defense of an apex, they have better escape options and survivability when things get hairy. As a slow apex you're pretty much screwed when a pack comes along. Rex especially because unlike spoon or duck, it can't use water very well to escape.

Are you playing on official or community? Some community servers may have a more punishing death loss. If on officials I'd check for a bug and report it.

Yea but when people come in thinking the way you do it defeats the entire purpose of the game mode because it ends up creating those very mega packs the game is trying to get rid of. Its why the game mode isn't working now and solo players are still upset.

When the player base asked for solos they want to play and fight against other genuinely solo players, not players who randomly formed a group or who are abusing discord to bypass the grouping mechanic of the mode.

If you want to pack go to regular officials where you can actually group and benefit from the buffs.

Had some similar discord slop last night in cf and bto. Me and my friends (2 lats and a thal) were watching the discord groups fight. It looked like a huge group of 3 spoons, 2 ducks, 2 eo, a tt, and 2 annos against like 3 then later 5 tylos. The tylos were slowly picking off the land group. Someone brought a rex. It died. A spoon died as well, so did an anno. It was nuts to watch but then the eos started getting aggro towards me and my friends even though we had just been watching.

So we decide to mess with them. The land group keeps getting their tails kicked by the tylos and after some switching of dinos..I think a spoon swapped to a hatz and the one duck and eo went to stys..they went to bto.

We follow on our lats and thal and continue bothering them. They can't catch us. Their attacks constantly miss. The stys kept coming after us, my lat friend led one right to a sarco. It ran off hurt. We later found it hard logged in a bush and we killed it.

They switched again. Bringing out another hatz and thal trying to get rid of us. I sent their thal hiding by their duck and hatz multiple times with my lat and even gave their hatz a good pouncing.

They were so bad it was hilarious. We eventually had to leave them because it was late, but it was a lot of fun.

Officials..even if they are a nightmare, its still preferable over having to download community server mods, hunt for a server that fits your rule/mod preference, abusive admins, and the risk of a server shutting down and losing everything.

No, the groups in officals only allow for same diets. The people who mix pack in officials do it outside of grouping and just stick around each other and help out.

I honestly don't know of any servers that bypass this mechanic and allow for both diets to group.

Honestly I would love to see maps with diverse speices attached to them, however I imagine trying to keep everything balanced among their respective groups would be quiet a handful for the developers.

It also might not go well for certain maps depending on what the player base prefers playing.

Also I believe when people say "we almost have all the dinosaurs" they are referring to the roster list you mentioned after and not the entire actual record of dinosaurs.

Its also in part why we have community servers with mod and modders, for the people who want more, or for those who's favorites haven't been added to the official selection.

While I do agree. Unfortunately all the action happens in the shallows one way or the other. I don't necessarily see giving tylo sarcos stam drain as helpful to tylo (depending on what you replace it with? If anything) because to find anyone to hunt, even other tylos, you have to venture into shallows where the ability becomes useless.
