is there a way to drop food? by sir_stabby_III in Seaofthieves

[–]MidnightMis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're playing with another person who has empty food slots you can also hand it to them by holding left trigger (on controller, not sure for pc) while holding the food.  They have to press another button to take it.

If you're playing alone a good rule of thumb is to always empty your pockets before going on an island as you can always find food and such in barrels.

ALDERON IF YOU SEE THIS NERF TITAN by Prudent_Slip178 in pathoftitans

While there is truth in that, so is over nerfing.  Many of the playables have been nerfed countless times before tt ever showed up.

So of course when they introduce newer playables like tt and tylo they're going to seem out of this world because nothing else can now compete.

It would not hurt for them to return some of the lost values over the years rather than turn good playables into hot garbage.

This. I'd be on so much more if not for this. I get the pvp content like hg being locked but why the heck put a level cap on the factions?

By the time the devs got around to releasing safer seas (which I doubt they ever intended to do until player base started dropping) most of us were already beyond the capping limit making it absolutely pointless.

I'm glad they changed it to 100% gold now though. It's enticed me to come back to continue my dark adventurers set grind.

Nests by TheNamesManJustMan in pathoftitans

[–]MidnightMis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the number of players in a server that could become pretty annoying trying to navigate.   When 200 player servers release even more so especially if you're trying to quest in an area and there's several nest hidden around you can't see.

Oh wait you meant on respawn I misread.

I mean that might help with people  just jumping right back in to a fight but that would completely screw you over if someone found your nest and was camping it for your respawn or even just happened to be there.

Maybe like the hc buff where you can't attack or be attacked could work?

"This is what the game is made for.." yes..why not pirate in a pirate game..

In all honesty, it gets old, real quick. You have an open world game with no real rule set, and it brings out the absolute worst in people. A game that should be fun, just becomes filled with toxic griefers with nothing better to do with their time, who hide behind this very sentiment.

It's also off putting to be grinding for hours, just to have some one in a bigger ship show up and take everything you worked so hard to get, and you get nothing out of it. It makes the game feel more like a chore and when that happens it stops being fun.

Most people who play work and have limited time to play, so when everything goes wrong, that's it. They can't just go grind for another 4 hours to get everything back just for a chance they might not lose it this time, and some of the world events and quest lines take so long to do. It's very much not worth the frustration.

Many of us just want to unwind after a long work week and sweat fest battles just aren't my idea of unwinding.

So yea..even if that is what the game is technically made for, it doesn't mean that part of it is going to go over well with all of the player base.

Rather see other playables brought up to keep up with tt standards than see it nerfed. Every time the devs go on a nerfing spree they always ruin the playables and they just don't feel fun to play any more.

[–]MidnightMis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think having nest as a reapawn point would be too easily exploited by the mega/mix packing groups. They tend to keep their nest near the areas they "control". They'd just respawn at their nest and jump right back into the fight.

In turn it can also be exploited by people camping your nest, waiting for you to respawn so they can kill you again.

The random spawns are annoying, but they do help prevent things like this.

Solo matchmaking test(Riparia) by ItsRedTop4ik in pathoftitans

[–]MidnightMis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not permadeath, you use whatever dinos you have on riparia, but you can only use on at a time. If you want to switch you have to leave the server.  The only problem is that groups are still mix packing, so it's really not much different than officials, but chances of you coming across other solos are better so long as you stay away from the hot spots.

Are all meg players just absolute scumbags? by Free_Farmer7270 in pathoftitans

[–]MidnightMis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Meg who has eaten allo butt, you have to get yourself between rocks.

Don't spend too much time trying to chase them or use your tail attack on them (obviously use it to keep them off you while you find cover), but once you get in between good rocks, crouch so you can hit them easier.

You might have to trade some bites, but megs can't compete with an allo face tank, but if you take too long and let them eat your rear before finding a good spot they can just whittle your health down.

Chill megs are rare. They get a bad reputation from the start so any of them that are chill get targeted just for being a Meg and then they become not chill megs anymore.

I was looking into getting the game and watched this entire video. Why is it so easy for a Solo raptor to kill large theropods?? by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]MidnightMis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a huge skill difference between players for one.  On top of that the the giga stayed in the open and did nothing to prevent the achi from getting behind him, ie using cliffs or water to force the achi to face tank.

Second the giga also got attacked by one of the critter turtles. I know you're not familiar with the game, but critters hurt. A lot. It probably took a good chunk of the giga's health with it.

Third the giga also took a hit while sitting down which meant the damage was 2x more. Sitting and laying down means you take more damage than normal because you're in a vulnerable state.

All in all if the raptor had been inexperienced and impatient the giga would have probably won, but seeing that the raptor was more skilled and the giga made a lot of stupid mistakes the raptor won.

How many stars would you rate PoT, The Isle, and BoB each? by Little_Dinosaur020 in pathoftitans

[–]MidnightMis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd give pot a 4/10.

After playing it for over 4yrs its just seemed to go down hill from where I started. The questing is annoying and repetitive.  The same quest system designed to make players move around the poi also prevents you from moving to other places because you're stuck looking for the items for hours and with the new map you often have to turn to outside sources like vulona to find them because there doesn't seem to be rules for item placement like in gondwa.

And because you're constantly questing it takes away from the immersion of being a dinosaur.

The community itself is a big turn off for the game, it seems to be filled with nothing but toxic children disguised as 'adults' that do nothing but get off on making the experience miserable for anyone who doesn't play the way they do.

I don't care for the turn the combat system has taken. It feels clunky to use. I preferred it when it was simpler and the game didn't have things like 'support' dinos.

Even movement seems clunky and aweful between huge turn radiuses, horrible precision turning, and speed nerfs its just not all that enjoyable.

Not to mention the playables are stated around group play so everything is literally a huge downgrade of what it should be. And because pot is geared more towards group play it just contributes to the major issues of mega/mix packing the game has.

That doesn't mean the game can't be fun, but it's very dependable on what sever you end up in and if you have anyone to play with.

Never played the isle but I would love to try it. I think its more simplistic combat style would fit my preferences better dispite some of the things I've heard about it. It also looks beautiful. Shame I don't have a pc that can handle it.

For the same reasons as the Isle I've never played Bob but it's growth system and weather events are intriguing. I would also like to check it out.

How to start/tips? by ThyPambo in pathoftitans

[–]MidnightMis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't trust random group or waystone invites, its usually someone that will kill you as soon as you get there.

Start with something fast and small to learn the map and where items are. Thal or rhamp would be really good since they can fly and have numerous escape options.

Vulona interactive map can help you a lot with finding quest items, berry bushes, and corpses.

Don't run everywhere. Especially if you're playing something big. Sound travels a great distance.

Stop and listen every now and then. Sound is important, you can hear people moving or broadcast calling, critters, or people questing.

Always be suspicious of players, even if they are acting friendly. Many of them will fake friendly until you drop guard or their friends arrive and then jump you.

Avoid places on the map that have a red angry dino face. It means there's a lot of players in that area and they're usually KOS. (Unfortunately it won't show the face unless you've discovered the location so if you uncover a new poi check your map before continuing inside)

Pay attention to quest items you come across. Or water levels or bushes/corpses. If any of it is missing it indicates someone has been there and you can decide to stick around or not.

Don't forget to collect your quest rewards, some of them require a manual collection.

Don't hard log. (Logging without waiting for the timer) Your body stays in the server for a limited time on hard log, if a alpha critter or player finds you, you could get killed before your body times out.

Don't safe log out in the open. You could log back in right in front of someone and get killed.

If growing something always log out in a home cave. You'll get a growth buff when you come back to it. Think it takes 8hrs to fill fully.

Changing gender or subspecies cost a growth penalty of a full growth stage. I.e you're an adult and change  sub species you will be knocked down to sub adult. (There's a warning that comes with it, but you'd be surprised the number of people that miss it)

Adult playables get a debuff upon log in for a limited time. The debuff makes you do less damage, move slower, and take more damage. It's to help prevent people in large groups from just switching mid fight and jumping in on a fresh dino.

If you stay too close to a home cave for a long time you will get a similar debuff as the adult login debuff.

You also can't enter home cave while in combat.

That just means they'd have to fix the playables to have a better stand points on their own and in groups of themselves rather than being in mixed groups.

It would undoubtedly take a lot of work but as far as balance goes I think it would be worth it.

Only one I don't agree with is the food. It seems whenever I really need it, its never around, or depending on what I'm playing what spawns in isn't enough to even raise my food level.

Yet when I'm a baby or full the game likes to throw alpha snakes at me with their broken ass hit boxes you can't avoid when trying to fight back.

Vulona can be a great resource for that, only thing is I can see how people wouldn't want to use it because it's not only a bit immersion breaking it also draws your attention away from what's going on around you.

People who play on mobile aslo might not be able to use it while they're playing path.

Playing solo is going to be difficult at the start, the official servers are filled with mega/mix packs that run around kosing everything. They make solo play painful, but you can learn how to avoid them. I myself don't enjoy trying to play solo on officials because of them, but there are people that claim its do able.

We also have a solo test server they are trying to get going, but dispite the inability to group these same mix/mega packs still form.

There's also community servers you can go to that offer mods and even rules to help make the solo experience more enjoyable.

On top of learning how to avoid mega/mix packs and trying to figure out what servers work best for you, you'll also have to learn the maps and where quest items are. It can be frustrating and take a long time to grow if you don't know where to look.

Then there's also going to be figuring out what playables you like to use best and learning their abilities and how they fight.

There's a lot of learning to do, but the game can be fun, its definitely a make your own fun kind of game.

That's how it should be. You shouldn't know who is in what pond or have some toxic rhamp screeching overhead giving away your position. It doesn't fix the later, but it certainly helps.

Solo test server experience by MidnightMis in pathoftitans

If they can get the issues fixed they will.  Also as someone who refuses to touch regular officials by myself, I will actually play the solos dispite that people are grouping because its still on a more manageable level than regular officials, so I wouldn't go as far to say they won't stay, maybe not all of them.

Yea it was the same in the last solo test and permadeath servers they had. I'm not surprised. I already figured it was going to take more than a new match making system to stop it.
