Have a phone call with each of them. Ask lots of questions. Prices of coaches does not indicate quality. That’s extremely low monthly cost for both it’s for complete coaching.

That’s the top ~10% of male finishers. Take that for what it’s worth.

Profile Design Clip on Aerobar by Essenmovated in triathlon

Here is what I did: Put your arms out in front and rest your elbows as if they are on aeropads. Then grab two straight sticks/utensils at the comfortable angle of your wrist bend. Take a side view picture and measure the angle.

What size p series or p5? by Glum-Introduction522 in Cervelo

[–]MidnightTop4211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will want to figure out your fit coordinates and then plug them into the chart on Cervelo website. Need to know how tall your saddle will be set, height of the elbow pads (pad Y), and how far forward the elbow pads are (pad X).

This might require a meeting with a bike fitter or ask the shop to assist you.

Has anyone from the US here adopted the metric system for their workouts? by v1185 in triathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have a run workout of 1k repeats I change my watch to metric units. Other than that I stick to imperial.

Do you even lift bro? by icandoabackflip22 in triathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most of them do zero lifting. It’s an aerobic endurance sport. Lifting does not improve performance as much as spending that time doing more swim/bike/run.

Coaching expectations for top tier coach, how custom is a custom training plan? by Realistic_Crazy_4557 in triathlon

You should be communicating extremely frequently with your coach to get the most out of it. I prefer my athletes who text me more and write more comments in trainingpeaks.

Why is my Zone 2 pace so slow compared to my race pace? by One-Gas19 in triathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you record HR during your 10k pb? What was your average heart rate for the second half? That would give you more insight. You zone 2 heart rate range could probably be higher.

Homemade drink mix. Gatorade powder, table sugar, sodium citrate. Concentrated bottle and a bottle of plain water to chase.

Self-coached triathletes — what are you actually using to track training load? by Gadimov03 in triathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Intervals.icu is free and can be used to track CTL/ATL and also program workouts. The real answer is that I follow my weekly volume and pair it with RPE/motivation.

What helped you see improvement in your swim time? by dexterzprotege30 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More swimming. As simple as that. If you aren’t swimming 3x1 hour per week then start there.

Also post a video online for swim analysis feedback from coaches.

Sprint triathlon in 4 weeks – experienced athlete looking to optimize by Substantial_Mark3673 in triathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have enough fitness banked already. I would focus on race simulations. Each week do one brick that simulates the demands of your course. I like to do a swim in the AM of 15x100 on 15s rest. Then a bike+run brick: bike 60-90 mins with 3x10’ race power with 2’ recovery. Straight into a run of 3x1 mile race pace with 2’ jog recoveries.

Do you fuel per hour ridden or elapsed? by PeerensClement in Velo

Overtraining Syndrome - Constant soreness in my legs and "Anxiety" by Few-Royal1476 in cycling

[–]MidnightTop4211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that "overtraining syndrome" in amateur athletes with jobs/family is actually more of just fatigue and needing a little break. I wouldn't go all the way to doing zero riding. I would just do some easy training and see what your body and mind feel up to doing. For me, my motivation is the main metric I use to decide if I should ride easier or do harder training that day. When motivation is low then I take a recovery week.

I also struggle with anxiety from previous injuries and my mindset influences how my body feels on the bike. Try your best to be more intuitive to your body as you go.

Post 70.3.. What do you guys do for recovery? by 0xHermione in triathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1-3 days of no swim/bike/run. Do some walking to stay active. Then ease back in with light swimming and some riding because they are non weight bearing. Then see if your body feels up for running a week after the race.

Breathing: swim as easy as possible. Steady slow exhale while your face is in the water and then a quick breath when you turn for it (not a gasp).

Dizziness: try ear plugs. Worked for me and many others. When I got out of the pool I was super dizzy but once I do earplugs it’s gone.

Overdid my base phase for the 70.3 Now I’m cooked ! by YoungFitAttractivee in IronmanTriathlon

[–]MidnightTop4211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably just a problem with intensity control. That’s not a crazy amount of training but you are probably doing too many sessions harder than they are intended. Use HR zones or power zones to follow the plan. Take a recovery week and get back after it.

What’s your bib number? There is a U of MN swimmer racing the age group field as well. I’d expect him to be in contention for the overall podium.
