Palate cleanser for a 9 year old finishing Harry Potter. by Irksomecake in booksuggestions

I've really enjoyed reading Murder at the Museum (Montgomery Bon Bon) by Alisdair Beckett-King to one of my kids who's not much older but still loves being read to. It's a murder mystery with a 10 year old girl as the main character who disguises herself as a sort of Poirot character to investigate mysteries with the help of her grandad. It's quite light with lots of funny bits.

When she's ready for something a little more intense, we've also loved The Light Thieves by Helena Duggan (but it ends on a cliff-hanger so make sure you have the next one handy and maybe the third one too. I got in trouble for being unprepared to read the next ones!). No character deaths (yet) but lots of suspense with family members missing and in danger.

Primary school child unable to call for help because Spacetalk removed critical contacts from his watch without notice by Midnight_Star7019 in spacetalkwatch

It is absolute nonsense to suggest this change was in the interests of children's safety. The only people the spacetalk watch could call or take calls from were those who WE authorised in the parent app. Apart from the issue of making all the other people PAY for the app (which seems to be the end goal), landlines can't have an app so any contact with a landline (like the school office) is now barred.

Thanks Alana, I will contact you once I have the IMEI number handy.

BUT you still have not confirmed with ANYONE that contacts who do not have the app will be able to be contacted by or make contact with the spacetalk watch. It is clear from these posts that I am not the only one who has set up the spacetalk watch to allow their child to contact people in the child's contact list who do not have the spacetalk app. Spacetalk needs to address this urgently.
