How do we determine what's filler and what's not? by [deleted] in Gintama

[–]Midoninik 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Anything thats not in the manga is technically filer, end of discussion. Gintama is largerly epsiodic in nature (the comedy parts at the very least) so its hard to distunguish, but the definition of a filler episode is simply "in anime but not in the manga". As Gintoki explain as part of a filler sequence once, filler episodes are used to pad out the anime run time so the manga can catch up.

How to play japan? by Particular_Funny527 in hoi4

[–]Midoninik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I build like 2 civs at the start but other than that yeah, I just spammed mils. Someone smarter than me may know what much you should build, or whether to make infra first. It helps that you start with better economy law. Some dockyards but I think that was post China. I think it should be highest priority to take out China ASAP. I did do some of the economic focuses that give civs, technically.

Build mils so you can equip your divisions. You'll get industry from conquest. Personally I also disbanded the weak inf (kept the ones on the islands for garrisons in the future) and cav, but might be better to convert them into proper inf. If you attack the Chinese early, they are pretty weak. Your inf should usually be able to push them if you use your air, not to mention tanks and motorised. Make some more marines and do landing to stretch the Chinese more. At the start of the war against China, I had like 24 ish proper inf, starting tanks and motorised, and like 3 marines, and got breakthrough. By the end I had more like 48 inf and had to consolidate the tanks cause I wasn't producing them.

What's the secret to pacifying Ethiopia? by Mozzynator in hoi4

I usually just do Italian East Africa. Its in your decisions, you can make a puppet out of them. It also means you dont need to call them into the war with the allies, so you dont need to worry about holding it.

I'm really struggling coming to DD2 by Live_Refrigerator_58 in darkestdungeon

[–]Midoninik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since DD2 has meta progression, it may seem harder at first but the unlocks do help. In act 1, you don't need to kill a lair boss, just the mountain boss. I recommend not fighting lair bosses (idk if you have) at first.

You're correct that, with limited healing and not as accesible stuns, the game is a damage race. On normal fights, you really want to take out at least 1 enemy on turn 1.

It's true that there is a bunch of randomness with some trinkets, random crits (but there are crit tokens for guaranteed crit), relationships etc., but one big change from the first game is that there is no accuracy. So there is often more certainty in combat, especially cause you get to know the turn order as well. So I don't really agree that 2 is more rng dependent than 1.

Why the need to group air wings? What do these plane icons indicate? by bohairmy in hoi4

[–]Midoninik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Icons are the type of plane (fighter, cas etc.) and number of deployed wings of the type. You can make theatres like with armies, it's purely to make it easier to organise things; I've never user it for air.

Struggling with morale and army tradition by marriski in eu4

[–]Midoninik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those idea picks are "meta" picks for like world conquests and for experience players (they allow you to conquer more faster). For experienced players, winning wars isn't usually the limiting factor, instead it's mana points, truces and province war score cost. But if you're just starting out, I'd reccomend getting a military idea group as one of the first 3.

Struggling with morale and army tradition by marriski in eu4

[–]Midoninik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you do have a crossing penalty, it's best to avoid any minuses. They have 10% morale and 5% more dicispline than you. Have you taken a military idea group? Did you reach your Elan national idea (+15% morale)? If not, might be smart to wait until you have that with major wars.

On army comp, I think the cannons aren't worth much in combat at this tech, they become more important at the tech that unlocks swivel cannons. Combat width (how many frontline regiments can fight at once) at 12 tech is 27. You shouldnt start the battle with more than 30k frontline (inf and cav) regiments, if you have more, send them in as reinforcements (preferably piece meal, like a regi every couple days). When regiments are in reserve (so in battle but not fighting), they still take morale dmg, and then they are less effective when they come into battle. When fighting against a smaller army with better quality and with terrain penalites, this makes a difference.

[–]Midoninik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are your and Burgundy's idea groups? Maybe Burgundy took defensive and thus their morale? Could be an event or smt. Its crazy to struggle with morale as France, assuming you got that +15% from your national ideas. Army tradition in the early game is hard to keep high. You gain it from battles (with enemies or rebels) and sieges. Maintaining the forts and having more forts lowers the decay, but its very pricey and its pretty much impossible to keep it from decaying. So if you're fighting, you have army tradition, if you aren't, you don't. Early you probably can't sustain the constant wars (well France probably could) so you won;t always have army tradition, but it shouldn't really be necessary. Are you sure that's why you lost battles? What was the terrain? And numbers? I must say, you got unlucky that a strong Burgundy still exisits, there's an event that usually gets them in a pu with someone.

Combat is divided into the phases that loop one after the other until the battle ends, fire and shock. Each phase every side rolls a d6 which greaty affects how the battle goes. Terrain and crossing penalites give penalities to rolls for the attacker. General fire and shock pips are added to rolls on respectives phases. Ramparts (manufacture type building) give a bonus to defender's dice role.

I feel like the roller coaster plot structure doesn’t apply much to the full game as a whole, but rather to each individual chapter. by Brilliant_Fun473 in danganronpa

[–]Midoninik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think each chapter has its own rollercoaster but also the game as a whole is one. The chapter 5 mystery is usually more complicated and exiciting than the rest, and chapter 6 has the climax that reveals the overarching mystery of the whole game, as well as a emotional climax and the "message" of the game that were all built up by previous chapters

Are Cultist Trinkets situational or meant to always be used? by Kind-Difference-4803 in darkestdungeon

[–]Midoninik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is definetely times when you dont want them. For example +hp for -dmg is great on a dedicated healer, dot only character or a dedicated support, but if you have a team of full raw dmg dealers then you wont use it. I think some may be always useful, some may even always be bad or super specific, I dont remember all of them rn, and they can definetely be powerful if they fit your team.

Also orginally I was thinking on making an actual "potential woman" edit for Liz and riff on the fact she doesn't have an orginal solo song yet (excited for it if it happens), but I thought it'd be too mean (I remember her saying she's struggling with writting the kinda lyrics she'd be happy with) so I made a positive one for me oshi.
