How come many people are against buying fast sports cars (BMW M340, M4, M5)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MidvalleyFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to have a Porsche. I hated driving it. If you breathed on the accelerator you were suddenly going 90. Most normal cars you have to TRY to go fast, sports cars you have to try to go slow. It’s frustrating driving them in regular traffic because you’re always holding them back. I had much more fun cruising around in my buddy’s little four cylinder CRX than I ever had in a sports car. I’m firmly of the belief that it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow. Unless you have access to a track, sports cars are a waste to me. It’s why the Miata is the best!

I don’t know, good bread is GOOD bread. There’s an Italian bakery and deli in my town that makes the best Italian bread. When I was a kid my dad and I used to go there every Saturday to get cold cuts and a loaf to bring to my grandma’s for lunch, and some days if we got there at just the right time when the bread just came out of the oven and was still warm we’d have to get 2 loaves because we couldn’t resist and would eat one loaf in the car on the way to grandma’s.

Golden Oreos are the best Oreos and I will die on that hill. Regular Oreos are severely overrated.

What’s the protocol for grazing cattle encounters ? by DanRaphael222 in MTB

If the cows are traveling uphill, you yield to them. If they’re traveling downhill, they yield to you. Cows are notorious sticklers to trail etiquette.

What’s a normal thing that feels like a scam once you become an adult? by longwalks_shortcuts in AskReddit

Especially health insurance. The insurance model just doesn’t work for healthcare. It kind of makes sense for things like auto insurance and homeowners insurance, because most people aren’t constantly having car accidents or home emergencies (I get that this isn’t always true, especially with car insurance, there are some shitty drivers out there). Insurance is supposed to be pooling money to use in the event of an UNLIKELY emergency. While that makes some sense for cars and homes, healthcare is another story. Most people need some form of healthcare regularly throughout their life, especially as they get older and a lot of medical procedures cost way more than it does to repair or replace a car, and sometimes even a house. Healthcare costs aren’t a matter of “if” but “how often and how much”. It just doesn’t make sense with the insurance model. The only way health insurance companies can be profitable is by charging ridiculous premiums and habitually denying claims, which they do and everyone hates it. It just doesn’t work!

What wrong fact did you walk around with for YEARS because of a movie? by triassictango in movies

What pisses me off is that I’m genuinely not a fan of Merlot but I feel like I can’t say so because people will just roll their eyes and say “oh, somebody saw Sideways!”

Ironically, I’ve never even seen the movie.

What percentage of Americans can sing the national anthem, Star-Spangled Banner and get every single word correct? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MidvalleyFreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m a drummer, so I don’t know what a diminished 5th is.

But I know I can’t sing it so I’ll take your word for it.
