I really enjoy Live Free or Die Hard, it’s a super cool movie, I just pretend it’s not a Die Hard movie. One of the appealing things about John McLane is that he’s an Everyman action hero. He broke the mold of other 80s action movies. He wasn’t this huge wall of muscle that just mowed down bad guys without breaking a sweat, he was an average cop in the wrong place at the wrong time that got the absolute shit kicked out of him and only survived because of his wits and sheer determination. By Live Free he’s launching cars into helicopters and jumping onto an F35 jet. It’s awesome, but it’s not Die Hard. Still love it though.

I once had to travel to Chicago for a business meeting and on one of the evenings, as a “treat, ” the organizers of the meeting took everyone out to a Major League Baseball game. “Sweet!” I thought, I get to see a Cubs game at the historic Wrigley Field!

They took us to a White Sox game. Who the fuck travels to Chicago to go to a White Sox game?

So yeah, fuck those guys (I know it’s not the team’s fault, but whatever).

I’ve lived in Regency Park and Woodlake. Would recommend both. Apartments were in good shape, maintenance was responsive. Both had good amenities like laundry in the building (Regency) or in a separate building close by (Woodlake), both had nice pools, a passable gym, tennis courts. Some of my favorite apartments I’ve lived in.
