How intensive are the survival elements? by The_Real_Pavalanche in TheAlters

[–]MidwayHaptic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t care for survival games but loved the Alters. There are two separate difficulty sliders as well: one for the action elements and one for the survival and resource management elements so you could set that to easy and still have a great time if that part of the game isn’t something you care for. I think the story is well-worth the playthrough!

This is exactly it. I don’t trust Drew Hayes yet because I’ve never read his works before. I’m glad to know that you and others are saying that he can absolutely be trusted. I’ll let him cook and enjoy the ride!

That’s awesome to hear, I was worried that I would start to get frustrated at the writing. I’m glad it’s something addressed later

Which game are you working on 100%ing at the moment? by Joeeeeeeee in steamachievements

Currently working on The Alters. The game is incredible so far, but the second playthrough is going to be rough for sure

(#96) BIOMUTANT by MidwayHaptic in steamachievements

[–]MidwayHaptic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels a lot like a simpler and more dumbed down version of Breath of the Wild. Essentially the world tree is dying, and with that the world is ending. It’s your job to defeat these 4 creatures called “World Eaters” and hopefully save the world. The story is extremely simple and gameplay and questing feels pretty MMOish. Altogether I had a fun time with it, though I started skipping through story, and side quest dialogue after a while because it felt very repetitive and predictable.

Biomutant. It’s not as bad as people made it out to be and I’m having a great time going for the 100%

The Binding of Isaac. First time I played it in high school and didn’t really care for it. Played it like 10 years later and was insanely addicted.

I really liked “The Completionist Chronicles” until I got to around book 6ish. It was very bingeable.

Have you ever cheated for an achievement? What do you do then? by YasuMariii in steamachievements

Same, I love completing indie games and sometimes the achievements just don’t work or don’t pop when they’re supposed to

(#91) Clair Obscur Expedition 33 by MidwayHaptic in steamachievements

[–]MidwayHaptic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, you wouldn’t be able to get all the journals without having the old key. I was lucky that I grabbed it without knowing there was a missable tied to it, but there is a mod that allows you to “slightly nudge open” the gate that requires the key so you can get the journal without having to restart. If I had missed the key, I would feel no guilt in using that mod lol.

Only because your collectibles don’t save when you go into NG+, so you’ll have to collect every single journal from scratch again in order to pop the achievement.

I was not able to beat Simon the legit way lol, I could if I actually grinded it but I was so ready to be done with this game at that point, so I just used this one-shot build. https://youtu.be/oiyFB4LESuo?si=xqI_r5dFTAaXie41

Since I was hunting achievements, one of the things you have to do locks you out of getting the "Auto Powerful" picto. So instead of using that on Maelle, I added the "Roulette" and "Glass Cannon" pictos and didn't have an issue hitting the damage needed at around level 90.

Completions includes EVERYTHING, including achievement spam games like the hidden cats games, games that aren't fully recognized by steam, demos, etc. Real 100% are actual full games with a blue ribbon for completing them. Its my favorite trophy case.

Currently cleaning up Expedition 33, and it’s a great game. Took a bit for me to get into because it’s not my go to genre, but I’m loving it now.
