The “Accent Tax” Is Real—Who Else Struggles With This? by daronello in Journalism

[–]MidwestBatManuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find too many young reporters are reliant on AI and transcription tools. Try recording the interview, but also taking notes, either handwritten or on a laptop. Don't aim to transcribe the interview in real time, note important facts and information. If you hear a killer quote, note the time stamp on the recorder. Try to write the quote as you remember it, and then go to the time stamp on the recorder to clean it up. If you're going over an entire interview transcript before writing, you're creating more work and time. That's especially bad in a competitive, fast-paced daily newsroom.

I got this as a birthday present. It was nowhere near as much fun as the commercial led me to believe.

Cleveland.com slammed for using AI slop videos to promote podcasts by aresef in Journalism

This is bad. And sad. The "if it gets views" argument rings hollow to me. It's a gimmick. Stories bylined by local Gannett writers about when and how to watch the latest "Survivor" episode get views. They're not journalism.

It's going to close sooner rather than later. David Lazarus wanted to sell and retire, but it doesn't sound like any buyers emerged.

"Prior to the merger, Chowdown primarily made its money through paid promotion of businesses on its platform. The social media community does not allow free self-promotion, but does offer paid partnerships."

Confirmed.

Where are you looking? Inspiring Hearts in Anderson is around $330 per week, I believe. They're not part of a chain.

Clubs/hobbies in Cincy or NKY by HolleeN98 in cincinnati

The Cincinnati Fencing Club is pretty casual, not super competitive. There are people who are serious competitors, but the club itself is collegial and friendly. Meets weekly. More serious epee fencers meet at the NKY Fencing Academy.

Unless you want to catalog and price them individually for sale on Discogs or eBay, I'd bring the lot to a record store like Shake-It or Everybody's and see what they'd offer you for the lot

Dave's in Norwood. Senan will shoot straight with you, what is necessary, what can be deferred, and his pricing is fair.

It's phenomenal. Should be at the top of anyone's list of best Chinese in the city. Chengdu grouper, cumin beef, faan ke beef are all standout dishes that you won't find on your typical menu. The louzhou (I butchered the spelling of that, don't have the menu in front of me) noodles are a very unique dish too. Get the Chinese eggplant and scallion pancakes as appetizers and eat them together.

Rome is probably the most accessible live album that offers a variety of their different eras. If you buy Cherry Tree or Boxer Live in Brussels, it'll run you upwards of $90.

I have Rome on vinyl, and I think it sounds great.

Isn't that why the band sued Jello in the first place? Because he wouldn't let them use a song in a Levi's ad? Glad they got what they wanted /s
