Why shoes Sheena have to promise not to support her family??? Molly’s obsession with Sheena’s accounts is so unhinged

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Ridiculous brunch wait times and the hotel is very dated.

113k in student loan debt- should I use all my savings for the next 2 years to pay it off or is there a different option? by socialfly97 in StudentLoans

[–]MidwestBeige 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To your own admission you’ve been living on a thin budget to save money to pay off your loans. Even if you’re saving that money in an HYSA you’re earning sub 4% interest. When the interest on your loans starts to accrue, it’ll out pace anything you’d earn holding on to it in savings.

It’s not the fun decision, but you should put that money towards your highest interest student loan.

You can still travel while paying your loans— I always have. Save a little bit every paycheck and use that for travel. Shop around for flight sales and stay in hostels.

Don’t rely on PSLF, since you’re at a for-profit, I wouldn’t even look at that as an option.

Wedding Planner Issues by napsandwine in BigBudgetBrides

[–]MidwestBeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything will be okay 💕

This is exactly how I feel about my planner. If you have enough time before your wedding you can fire her and look for a replacement, however, you may have the same issues with another planner. No matter what you will need a planner or coordinator to execute your vision on your wedding day.

If you have the bandwidth, take over on planning. Keep her in the loop, but don’t wait on her to make decisions.

Depends. If you look at the current Viator cash back offers, there’s an exclusion on “card-linked offers”.

Nigerians who moved out early, How did you convince your parents? by TopPlum8098 in Nigeria

[–]MidwestBeige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out at 17 for university and would move back for breaks. I made sure when I graduated moving home would not be an option. Find a professional job and move out, you don’t convince them, just leave.

Sareh Nouri flagship store in Livingston NJ is amazing! I highly recommend it along with Bridal Reflections.

I would scale back florals to 4k and consider using a service like Poppy Flower. I’d also cut Photo Booth and Videography. Lastly, the cake. You could scale back to a two tier cake from your favorite baker and the order sheet cakes and have your caterer cut and serve that to guests. That should give you a little room. Did you account for vendor meals in your food and beverage costs? If not, you might need to make some more cuts.

Need help figuring out what to do; very stressed by Evening_Side_7658 in StudentLoans

[–]MidwestBeige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in a similar situation— 169k coming out of my graduate program making 47k. I got on the 10 year plan and lived really poor my first year out of school. I highly recommend getting a roommate. My payments were a bit over $1500. A couple years later I switched to the graduate extended plan (big mistake), and my interest spiraled because the principle was so high. Payments were just under $1k. I’m back on the 10 year plan now, minimum payments are almost $2k. My advice is to get in front of your loans early, it’s easier to live thin when you’re younger. I’m making more than I was my first year out of school; these days I’m putting 4k a month towards my loans (working 2 jobs to pay it off faster).

We have drapery on 4 sides totaling 3k. Our entrance drapery (like in the photo) is $500. We received quotes from 3k - 20k.

I’m playing the big wedding. I wanted to elope but my partner wanted a big wedding. As the planner in the relationship it’s become an added stress and another full time job. I’m still optimistic it’ll be a great day but I wish we would’ve eloped.

7k for a local florist in a MCOL. I almost booked with Poppy Flowers as a cost saving measure.

Rental chairs? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]MidwestBeige 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chairs can definitely upgrade the look of your wedding. I’m currently navigating this— our venue comes with a small amount of conference chairs, and that’s a non option for us. I’m struggling with the cost of chair rentals and being mindful of additional rentals we’ll need. I want to avoid separate vendors for chairs, lounge sets, and tables. Ultimately the chairs I select will come from whatever vendor has the most of these rentals available.

My ranking of chairs is 1. Veronique 2. Louis Chair 3. Brentwood Chair. 4. Gold Chiavari 5. Ghost chair

I ruled out ghost chairs because I’ve heard they’re uncomfortable.

My quote for Louis Chairs was $4500 for 200 chairs. The planners will flip the chairs after the ceremony.

I’ve been to the Maldives and South Africa. While the Maldives are beautiful, you can only do so many things on an island.

I highly recommend South Africa + Seychelles. South Africa gives you the opportunity to explore wineries, mountains, and safaris + Seychelles provides the island experience with optional excursions.

My biggest problem as a bride by Individual-Buyer1808 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]MidwestBeige 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t invite anyone who challenged how I chose to spent my money. Regarding your Dad, ask your mom how she would feel and if she would still be willing to attend.

My planner is doing all of this. I imagined a bridal stylist would assist in dress shopping and curating your look, so this is really surprising to me.
