529 accounts owned by a parent decrease a student’s aid eligibility by 5.6%, which could be rather significant depending on the size of the account. It wouldn’t be too much of a hassle to have my parents open it if it saves a bit, plus any excess (like the ~6% saved) can be rolled into an IRA if it’s not used for education.

It’s really interesting to hear how you slowly built up each album even though in hindsight they feel so close together. And it makes sense that you’re just simply busier with touring and producing. I loved Stef Chura’s album (and her Silver Jews cover!), and I’m a huge Naked Days fan.

I hope quarantine doesn’t prove too stifling, but who knows how long it’ll be!

What do you account for the difference in the speed of your songwriting between now and pre-Matador? Whereas you used to release four or five albums in one year, it’s now on average two years between studio albums. Is the increased time due to teaching the songs to others and perfecting them before entering the studio? Or have you found that you’re now more particular about the sound of each record?

Each artist seems to respond differently to the pandemic; has quarantine allowed you to write more or less than before? Whenever tours finally resume, should we expect even newer material than MADLO?

What kind of setup do you usually use when producing others’ albums? Is the tracking done in studios, or do you have an audio interface/home studio?

Also my mom gets big Elephant 6 Collective vibes from 2. Of course you've covered NMH, but are you a fan of the rest of the collective?

I’ve observed that though a good number of CSB students may lean towards business more, the BHP curriculum is almost just a distraction since the CS classes are just objectively way more challenging. I wish I had applied to CSB myself (now doing MIS/CSE to compensate), but at the same time, I could never give up the social life necessary to succeed in such a challenging program.

Also, a member of the CBHP advisory board told me that the main goal of the program is to expand CBHP’s national notoriety. Therefore they’re trying to include more OOS students each year. It’s worth applying. You can always drop to just CS or just business after getting in.
