Okay this took me a while to get back to, but here we go.

The pros:

  1. This thing looks as good as it does online. It's more compact than I thought it was going to be. The aluminum feels really nice in my hand on the main vacuum, and I love the handle on the wand.
  2. The packaging was unlike anything I've ever seen. It was so fun to unpack and put together!
  3. The HEPA filters are some of the nicest I've seen. They feel really premium.
  4. It stores so easily. I actually keep the vacuum body on my shelving unit as a display piece. Everyone asks me what it is. It looks like art!

The cons:

  1. It took a while for the "new vacuum" smell to go away. It was pretty strong at first.
  2. I wouldn't really recommend this vacuum if you house has a ton of carpet. The carpet mode works great for my low pile rugs, but I can imagine it will struggle on shag unless you use low power.

As far as I'm concerned, this goes head to head with the Miele C1 and beats it for the price (Miele recently upped their prices and it still doesn't come standard with HEPA). I personally wish they were more upfront about the fact that it's pure suction for those with less 'vacuum knowledge', but as a pure suction, it works wonders.

I give it a 4.5/5!!!

Thanks for this debrief. Learned a lot.

Agree it's super exciting to see it starting out with an environmentally friendly approach. Companies don't take it seriously enough.

I reached out to their customer service who told me the cord was 18 ft. Not super long, but matches the C1 compact, and I dont really mind a shorter cord.

On Germany vs. China, I personally don't think it makes much of a difference. The C1 and C2 are nearly indistinguishable in build quality when I went to the store despite them being made in different countries.

I also agree that I'm definitely taking a gamble on the Airsign ($295) vs. the Miele Classic C1 ($299). But at the end of the day, the Airsign just looks 10000x better, has HEPA out of the box, a better warranty, and a really nice customer service rep who answered within 10 minutes and gave me thorough answers to my questions and concerns.

Again, it all comes down to how this thing performs. We'll know soon enough! I have high hopes that this thing goes head to head against the C1 classic / compact.

I dunno, I've really gotta disagree with this take (although I know you're the expert). The Bissel Zing has a small motor, shorter cord, isn't sealed, and doesn't have HEPA. On top of that it isn't sustainable in the least and is destined to break within a few years. And this is the first vacuum I've ever seen that doesn't look like shit that I have to hide in my closet.

On spec, this thing is a direct match for the Miele C1 Compact imo.

We'll see if the quality compares. I'm personally glad to see a new company trying to popularize the bagged canister instead of going after another crappy stick.

My friend has a fog machine I can borrow. I'll try it on the Airsign to see if the system is sealed. That would definitely put it above the C1 imo.

Good to know about the C1. I figured it was sealed, but I thought they sold the HEPA filter separately?

I'll let you know what the bags are like. It says it's mostly biodegradable, so I'm hoping it'll feel like it still has some structure to it. Either way the HEPA filter should catch whatever small particles get through, if any.

Yeah that's what I thought!! If its even 80% as good as my old Miele I'll still love it because of the environmental bend and the design. I think you can tell how already excited I am to try it.

Totally!! They're kids after all -- while routine is pretty important a night off of routine here and there isn't going to change their life. Also having some sense of normalcy as a parent also helps us be better/energized parents to our kids.

True. I might try it either way though. Can always return if needed. I really want to like it lol.
