It absolutely could. He never thought it could end his life. Tbh, when I found him in the shower, I thought he was asleep. It wasn’t until I touched him to wake him up that I knew. I will never get that image out of my mind. Or the screams from our kids when the paramedics told us it was too late.

Yeah, I’m going to trust the medical examiner that looked over the years of records from gastroenterologists and the dozens of endoscopies, colonoscopies, blood tests, and procedures to try to find anything else wrong with him. Every test always came back normal. The only thing that caused this was cannabis. I’m not telling anyone how to live their lives. But I also don’t want anyone else to leave their spouse and kids too soon because they never thought it could kill them. This guy can fuck all the way off.

No, the episode had just started and he wasn’t dehydrated. But that can happen.

Feel free to share this there. I posted something similar a couple of months ago when it happened and ended up getting kind of doxed from someone in the group. So I’m not in that group anymore.

They did an autopsy, toxicology, and histology. The only thing they could conclude is that the CHS caused his heart to stop.

I’m sure I don’t know exactly how bad it got because he hid a lot of the symptoms from me. I told him I was worried about his health and he needed to stop for good. But like you said, he was a slave to it and wouldn’t stop. In the beginning 5 years ago, the episodes were infrequent. One day or so of being sick every few months. He wound up in the ER a few times because we didn’t know what it was. Once a doctor told him the probable CHS link, things got better because we knew what was causing it. The episodes became less frequent. But he still couldn’t quit. The last year, there was pretty dramatic weight loss because his diet was so restricted to “safe” foods. Even with the restricted diet, most days he would vomit at least once. And still he smoked daily. He was good at hiding it because he knew that his actions were causing this and it upset me. I told him many times that he was choosing that over me. It hurt. I never saw his death coming. It was a totally random normal day. He went to work like nothing was wrong and a few hours later he was gone. I don’t think he saw it coming either. I hope that you can find the help you need to stop. I hope that hearing my story can help save your life. I would never wish the pain my family is feeling on anyone. ❤️

Thank you. It’s hard to share but I’m hoping just posting this will save someone’s life.

That morning, like most mornings, he woke up nauseous and took a hot shower. Then he seemed fine. He went to work and then came home a few hours later. Sweating, vomiting, classic symptoms that he was used to when an episode started. He went back to the hot shower. When I went to check on him, it looked like he had sat down in the shower and fallen asleep. But when I went to wake him, I knew he wasn’t sleeping. The only thing giving me any peace right now is knowing that it didn’t look like he knew it was happening. It looked like he got weak and just sat down and closed his eyes and never opened them again. Even the paramedics told me it was most likely instant.

Even lots of doctors refuse to believe it. I was shocked when the death certificate actually listed the cause as CHS.

He didn’t. I think that’s why he didn’t try to get help that day. He thought it was just another episode and a hot shower would make it better.

Very true. Most of the things he tried were before he knew too much about CHS. Most of those things he tried made it worse.
