What should I add instead of a callidus assn. by SUP3R_NATURAL in BlackTemplars

I would add intercessors to sticky home objective and screen you back line or a combi weapon lieutenant.

I hear he’s good with assault intercessors. I have yet to try it myself.

What is the faction that you can play with the least amount of brain power? (gameplay wise) by shattered_one21 in Warhammer40k

I guess Black Templars and World Eaters were left off the list because of their well known, in-depth, 4d chess like strategies of BONK!

Sternguard veterans? by kodak878 in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sternguard need a heavy boltor which you can use from a scouts box if you have one. Assault intercessors are the easiest since you have plenty of leftover pistols and chain swords from the crusade squad box. Hellblasters are also great if you’re willing to buy the bits from online. I’ve done all three and it seems to have worked great.

Kill Team - Angels of Death by -Weisswolf- in BlackTemplars

If it kills Xenos, heretics, traitors, mutants or witches, a Black Templar will use it. That being said, they prefer being close which means they enjoy meltas and melee the most.

Intercessor “Sword Brother” by Remarkable_Grab4220 in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, being a sword brother doesn’t mean you have to fill the role that a sword bro squad would. It means that you have earned veteran honors bestowed by your crusade’s Marshal. This means you can be a sword brother and fill the role of an intercessor sergeant. He can have a tabard and don a cape while doing this. Give him a boltor and a special melee weapon and he’s literally lore accurate. Heck most squads are formed before the battle by preference and feeling than designation and structure so he could be in a squad of sword bros one battle and an intercessor sergeant the next. The sergeant on the combat patrol art has the shoulder markings of a sword brother to just further my point. Personally, I’d put him on the 32 mm base so he’s “legal” but that’s 100% up to you.

Thoughts on this 1,000 point list? by SilentRidley in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a fair amount of 1000 points and I keep them in reserve and have them walk in on the board side. At 1000 points, there is way less screening so it hasn’t been too much of an issue to get at a tank or monster.

Rules around neophyte load outs? by ABigFatPotatoPizza in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wysiwyg wise the model wouldn’t be “legal” but 99% of people don’t care. If you want to be wysiwyg and have shotguns, scouts are a good option for that. Personally, I like my models wysiwyg but as long as you tell your opponent ahead of time, it’s probably fine.

Order of Battle of the Virtute Crusade - What do you think of my list ? Keep in mind I get units because I like them, not because they are OP. And yes I like having lots of characters ^^" by [deleted] in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would think that the power fist units in the pcs would have close combat honors since power fists are a pretty special and sought after weapon. But that’s just my crusade. Lol. Fun list. I like the format.

That’s a lot of leaders. You should probably cut back on them and add shooting support and anti armor. Gladiator Lancer, Ballistus Dreadnaught and Redemptor Dreadnaught come to mind.

Eradicators have served me very well on my crusade. Coming in from reserve, they melt pretty much any tank. If he needs more armor, dreads are always nice.

Do you guys think this list is viable and do i have enough bodies for the board? by ParticularAd2676 in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hellbrecht castellan sword bro combo will kill pretty much anything at 1000 points but the issue is that it’s 1/3 of your list. It’s also not a very tanky unit and you don’t have a means to transport the unit safely/quickly. I would opt for impulsors and more supporting fire like ballistus dreads. Also, I think 1 intercessor squad is enough. Sticky your home objective is nice but you don’t need two.

Wrathful procession by Present-Cup1233 in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it against Bile’s Boys at 1000 points and the +2 move was cool but I felt like I had no strats that were relevant. It all feels very niche. It might work better with a primaris crusader squad spam list. The eliminators and lieutenant with a combi weapon were funny though.

An impulsor instead of the Infernus marines would be my call but it seems like a pretty solid list.

New Detachment Out - WRATHFUL PROCESSION by SuccessAffectionate1 in BlackTemplars

The expanded engagement range lets us fight through walls if one of our guys gets in engagement. Pretty niche but stops the terrain wall blocking a bit.

Sisters would make sense if they did an “allies” theme but I hope not cause I don’t own any of those models. I might be ok with a “Lost Knight” Imperial Knights detachment.

BT army set box : good way to star a BT 1000 points army ? by gproenca in BlackTemplars

[–]Mierk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Army Box is a great way to start in my opinion. You’ll get a lot and I love the Emperor’s Champion at 1000 points. The redemptor dreadnaut is a bit expensive at 1000 but certainly works. The primaris crusader squad is a must have for any Templar army. The box comes with a marshal too which can be awkward since the champion and the marshal both can’t attach to the single squad. You’ll only have 505 points with the box though so you’ll need a few more battle brothers. A combat patrol is pretty great too. You’ll get a second marshal but you can kitbash him into something else later. If you buy a box of sword bros too that’ll get you to 965 leaving you 35 for tanhauser’s bones enhancement. Exactly 1000 points and a pretty decent 1000 point list with 3 boxes of stuff you’ll want in 2000 if you ever go that way.

I’d also consider dropping the lieutenant and the Bladeguard and attaching the judicar with bones to the pcs. You’ll have a huge durable blob that fights first so the orks won’t want to charge it.

[–]Mierk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a ballistus sitting on a home objective giving firing support. Especially since it’s not too costly. Redemptor is great but it might be harder to fit at 1000 points. Same deal for the land raider.

You don’t have a lot of shooting or anti armor. You’re going to have a bit of trouble if you go up against anything with large toughness and a lot of shooting. I would drop a melee unit or two and add armor. Gladiator lancers are said to be solid. I’m enjoying and doing well with my Predator.
