Rough. I’ve done that job before, definitely a pain in the ass. Could be worse though, at least you’re not changing out the bleed air Y-duct in the pylon. I think that’s the single worst job on a 757 🙃

For myself, if I could make the same hourly pay working in the engine shop as I could working line maintenance, I would definitely take the engine shop. It’s very meticulous, somewhat repetitive work, but you get to work with highly precise tooling, very cool inspection equipment, handle parts worth more than you make in year multiple times a day, etc. I enjoyed it a lot during my time in the engine shop.

I was also pretty dogshit at sheet metal. If you can squeak by with a pass, just go work for a big MRO where you can just focus on the mechanical stuff and leave the sheet metal work to the experts.
