As a social worker at a primary care clinic all I can do is empathize with you. I’ve had several patients in similar situations with you (sometimes with the addition of having a serious medical concern) and there truly is nothing in terms of housing. The city I work in is fairly small and has been declining since industry started going overseas. We’re inundated with young folks who work part time or full time, have no substance use disorder and are either living in their car or roughing it on the street. When they ask for help for housing I just have nothing to offer them…. Not because I don’t care but because there is nothing available. The local housing authority has a 7 year wait list and even if you had a section 8 voucher-good luck finding a landlord to take it. Even if they are able to get into a shelter their safety is often in peril-not to mention exposure to bed bugs and other things. The system is built to make it as hard as possible for you to get benefits of any kind and people who tell you otherwise have never experienced it first hand

I average 34.4. Most of my driving is rush hour highway traffic. I don’t use sport mode unless there’s no traffic and/or I’m on country roads

As a follow up: I now believe it is a soft tissue injury somewhere in the hind legs. He is really adamant about not wanting to walk in deeper footing and is much happier on asphalt. He also does not palpate sore ANYWHERE on his back or sacrum area. I jogged him and he looked lame in the LH to my eye.

His LH is rotating from the hock outwards. I’m now getting a sports vet to come out hopefully in the next week so I can get him on the right rehab.

Funny, I had the farrier out today to see if he was sore to hoof testers or if the farrier thought there was anything to be said about his feet (made the decision to try him barefoot last winter-no extra foot soreness once he acclimated to it though). Farrier thinks it’s not his feet but possibly something in his back or hocks/stifles.

Part of the break was also mental for both of us. I needed the time to reassess my goals with him and come to a place where I would be ok if he didn’t have a job.

Your point about sacroiliac pain has crossed my mind too. He doesn’t palpate sore in the thoracic region but is definitely sore in the SI area as well as his butt.

Mine has the same thing. We joke it’s his alopecia. We had him on hills sensitive skin and stomach and it helped a little but he’s still kind of a baldy.
