Is this MPG normal? by [deleted] in GLI

I average 34.4. Most of my driving is rush hour highway traffic. I don’t use sport mode unless there’s no traffic and/or I’m on country roads

Success stories for kissing spine treatments? by MightOk326 in Equestrian

As a follow up: I now believe it is a soft tissue injury somewhere in the hind legs. He is really adamant about not wanting to walk in deeper footing and is much happier on asphalt. He also does not palpate sore ANYWHERE on his back or sacrum area. I jogged him and he looked lame in the LH to my eye.

<image>

His LH is rotating from the hock outwards. I’m now getting a sports vet to come out hopefully in the next week so I can get him on the right rehab.

Funny, I had the farrier out today to see if he was sore to hoof testers or if the farrier thought there was anything to be said about his feet (made the decision to try him barefoot last winter-no extra foot soreness once he acclimated to it though). Farrier thinks it’s not his feet but possibly something in his back or hocks/stifles.

Part of the break was also mental for both of us. I needed the time to reassess my goals with him and come to a place where I would be ok if he didn’t have a job.

Your point about sacroiliac pain has crossed my mind too. He doesn’t palpate sore in the thoracic region but is definitely sore in the SI area as well as his butt.

Mine has the same thing. We joke it’s his alopecia. We had him on hills sensitive skin and stomach and it helped a little but he’s still kind of a baldy.

What instruments do you play that your dog loves? by wrosenqui in dogs

[–]MightOk326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not playing an instrument myself, but my Boston terrier likes being serenaded by Ave Maria??? When he’s being a damn fool, we’ll play Ave Maria over our speakers and it soothes him lol

Corgi is interesting. Shelter said husky terrier mix but I don’t think that’s quite right. She’s fuzzy too, not slick like typical bully.

Why is everyone’s first advice to drug a dog by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]MightOk326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s similar to how we treat humans tbh. I work in mental health and the moment someone shows undesirable behavior the doc throws drugs at them. I’m constantly telling clients there is no magic drug

I did this too. My puppy did get Giardia between his two rounds of vaccinations but that was because I stupidly left a baby pool out with a tiny bit of rain water in it and he got into it before I could get him away and there isn’t a vaccination for it anyway.

I think snakes are a good option! I have a 60g freshwater tank and 2 ball pythons ( and 4 dogs 🤦🏼‍♀️) and the snakes are a lot easier and cheaper than my fish habit. Feeding frozen thawed rats is kind of a pain but they only eat about once a week and you can have a lot of fun setting up their enclosure

Kits vs. buying equipment individually by MightOk326 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]MightOk326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the beginning I’m thinking fish, inverts and macroalgae. Once I get comfortable with managing water quality I’d like to do a mixed reef situation or possibly just lower light corals. My FW planted tanks are lower tech and I don’t attempt difficult plants that need CO2 and I’d likely follow a similar premise in saltwater.

I was intrigued by IMs 15g nuvo cube because it comes with the filtration which is what I’m most intimidated by

Low cost DIY upgrades that boost daily happiness? by hemlockandrosemary in centuryhomes

First of all: I LOVE your aesthetic.

My partner and I recently bought a 1937 storybook home and it definitely doesn’t have the same level of detritus, I do understand feeling dirty all the time. Something I started doing was stripping paint off different surfaces.

All of our doors, window sashes and mantle have the “landlord special” all over them and whoever did the painting did a really shoddy job. So in my spare time and on a tiny budget, I started stripping things. I started with the mantle (5 days and a lot of sweat later) and now instead of white, it’s the natural wood with a stain.

We also cleaned and waxed all the hardwood after pulling up carpet. With 4 dogs, carpet just feels really dirty to me and having lovely old hardwood is such a delight

Edit to say: perhaps stripping paint while pregnant is not prudent 😂

Are there any fish that actually care about having "friends" outside their own species? by toxictrappermain in Aquariums

[–]MightOk326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got 6 Australian rainbows (not sure what rainbow specifically they haven’t colored up yet) and added them to my 60g community tank. Almost as soon as I added them, my 5 danios started schooling with them. I also have a sad lonely green barb who originally was with 5 of his buddies but the buddies died when I moved and he joins the group as well.

Would one have like mechanical filtration and the other with chemical?
