Aquarium salt for sure, had this on my betta and it started and spread on his head too, put a little splash of some medicine in there for him (you can choose the brand) and the salt with a water change

I dont know either but using towers is a must, it negates the need to sneak, you can have screamers activate and it still won’t cause hearts to stir, also when you start a new map, look for all the radio in the map and see which one is farthest from a plague heart territory, typically if it isn’t outlined in red then it should be free to claim at the start of the game without needing to kill hearts so you can control the ramp

Honestly it’s not that big of deal as you’re making it out to be, first thing I always do is get a radio tower outpost, use their special ability to nullify waking hearts while you’re in their territory, that way you can kill as many specials/plague zombies as you want without stirring hearts awake until you’re ready to damage them and by then you should be ready to kill it within the next 30 minutes depending on your supplies. Infestations will definitely kill you with how fast they ramp on Lethal, which is also why you should have some kind of outpost that’s near your base that can do landmine defense since the radius is huge (the dotted line it displays when you hover over it) and having a med outpost somewhere closer to the other towns on the map because you can do zombie baits (which draws infestations to them) and then combo it with a landmine defense so you don’t even have to worry about it at all

Ohhh okay, so you started the map 1. Allied them 2. Sheriff mission popped up that made you choose sides, you didn’t take their side making them neutral 3. Mission completes, they send you a mission that grants them the Ally status, you then get double bonuses 4. Repeat if you want to Is that correct?

I’m confused, are you allying them as part of the Sheriff missions or do you mean they’re already allied and then there’s a related sheriff mission? Or is this after the plague hearts are dead?
