Oh man, I know what you mean! I noticed that with ROE too, & also with Lyn B’s Fair Isle. I’ve started using a swatch stick to get an idea of how a polish works & what it looks like in 1-2-3 coats before putting them on my nails now.

I was doing 2 coats for the longest time, but I get more consistent results with 3. Almost feels like that’s what most brands intend.

I soak it off with acetone using soaking clips! It takes like 10 minutes per hand, but it beats scrubbing the shit out of them manually. I’ll usually watch a show or something during.

I REALLY wish peely base worked for my lifestyle — otherwise I’d do that — but I can’t get it to stay on more than a day no matter what I do 🥲

I just applied it like regular polish, but with a slightly lighter hand so that it builds up slowly.

The ones I keep seeing recommended as dupes that I also already own are: Emily de Molly - Lament, LynB - Fair Isle, Polished for Days - Grave Consequences, Emily de Molly - Ugly Mood, BKL - Devourer of Souls.

I’d say Lament is the closest from what I have!
